I'm having a heck of a time resizing images to fit correctly in my "about us" section. (The place where I can add a video and up to 5 photos of my shop/process)
I've tried to resize every which way I can think of, but cannot figure it out. The images look halfway decent on a desktop, but horrible and out of place on mobile.
Is there anyone out there that's good with this sort of stuff? I'd greatly appreciate your help. Thanks.
They will always look bad on mobile.
Etsy's layout code on mobile doesn't crop the images effectively.
Been threads about this for at least a few years.
Wouldn't it be better to look good on mobile compared to desktop if they had to choose?
Maybe so, figured it could have been updated.
@YooperWoodDesigns why would it be better to look good on mobile vs. desktop?
Don't more people use mobiles devices nowadays to browse the web?
Have you tried cropping your photo to a square before you load it or are you just talking about photo resolution PC/app? Yes depending a bit on your customer base, more use the app than the browser. If your target buyer trends younger they are more likely to be using an app. ALSO how are you taking your photos? Phone? What kind? Camera? What resolution? There could be other issues.
Yes, I have cropped the images as a square and in many different ways.
I used an android phone to take the pics.
I haven't ever had a problem anywhere else with resizing images to fit where I need.
All of my product images, profile pic, and banner on etsy turned out fine. They look good on mobile and desktop.
It's just this one section in the about us area where I am having trouble.
I feel this issue has arisen before here. Not sure if they were able to figure out the cause or not.
This issue has been brought to Etsy's attention for a few years now. Unfortunately there have been many threads written about it in the forums without resolve. Sometimes the About Page images will only show a top corner of the photo on particular smaller devices. While other small devices can view the entire image or a larger part of it.
That is exactly what's happening to me. It only shows the top corner of the image. Thank you, I will deal with it.
