For the second time in the last couple weeks when I tried to refund a shipping overage, the screen blanked out and nothing appeared to happen.
I waited a minute or two - and exited.
I went back and looked at the order, no indication that the order had been partially refunded.
Waited about 5 minutes, checked again. The order was correctly partially refunded.
Hopefully this helps others who are trying to do partial refunds.
There is no indication that the partial refund is working correctly - but it appears to go through after a few minutes.
So don't keep refunding ... wait and check.
Hopefully Etsy will fix this because it has the potential for lots errors.
This has been going on since Sept. 8 (for me, anyway), when the problem came on suddenly. Apparently Etsy is in no hurry to get this fixed; it seems like a pretty easy fix. Here is my Thread about it. Initially, I thought the Partial Refund did not go through (and I was ready to issue it again), but it did go through. All I did was Refreshed the Screen. Here is that Thread. This problem has gone on too long.

Actually, this is the result of another great Etsy "FIX". It happens to be the result of Etsy giving the buyer an opportunity to choose between an Etsy credit or actual refund to their method of payment. The buyer has 48 hours to decide. No response?, it defaults to payment method.
This new program has nothing to do with you as the seller. Your refund to the buyer will be processed. Ignore the spinning circle of death when you request the refund! Just move on. Check your financial page before "trying again" to verify your refund.

Thanks, I wasn't sure how long this had been a problem. But it was because I read in the forums about it - might have been your thread - that I avoided refunding again and again.
And I figured it couldn't hurt to keep this visible for other sellers.
@GlassyFields Definitely, it's important for people to know it's still an ongoing problem. I'll bet there are a lot of Sellers who don't know. And Etsy doesn't seem to be in a hurry to try to fix it. Like the Core Details problem many are having. When something continues for a duration, I don't hold out hope that it will be fixed any time soon, and it should be.
I hope this Thread will be Bumped often, so more Sellers are aware.
Wow. This is quite important to know and to keep in mind.
