Questions on Shipping to some countries

Jump to solution

Hi everyone,

I'm currently shipping only to Canada and the USA, but I'm considering expanding my shipping options to include the Netherlands, Singapore, Hong Kong, and China.

I'm aware that shipping to Europe can require more than just standard postage, such as customs declarations or specific paperwork. My goal is to ship to countries where I primarily need to provide postage without dealing with complicated additional requirements.

Could anyone with experience shipping to the Netherlands, Singapore, Hong Kong, or China share what I might need beyond just postage? Are there specific customs forms, taxes, or other considerations I should be aware of for these countries?

I appreciate any advice or insights you can provide!

All international postage needs 3 invoices on the outside, in local currency, and a cn22

some countries are more strict than others about implementing it.

The netherlands will need the IOSS information transferred electroniccally for under 150 euros, over that, you need to inform them of the vat and customs amounts, before you ship

@VintageFindsByMitch   I am in Canada.  I don't ship to the places you mentioned but I think they probably only need the regular customs form.  I ship to United States, United Kingdom, Australia and New Zealand.  Nothing other than the customs form is needed for those destinations either other than sales to the United Kingdom, where etsy gives me the tariff number and the value to write on the front of the package.  That's it, that's all.  I stopped shipping to the eu countries when the tariffs came in a few years ago.

Thank you so much for taking the time to respond and share your experience. It's helpful to know that only a regular customs form is needed for most destinations.

I also offer free shipping, so I was particularly looking for countries with lower postage costs. That’s why I chose to start with the Netherlands, China, Hong Kong, and Singapore, as they appear to have more affordable shipping rates compared to some other regions.

I really appreciate your insights!

@VintageFindsByMitch   I did try China, Hong Kong and Singapore for a few months.  I never got any sales from them, so I deleted them.  I hope you have much better success!

I was also interested in offering shipping outside of the US. I was thinking of starting with Canada first, what are the shipping costs like?
