I don't get the logic of why I am dinged. My processing time is set to 1-2 days Monday to Friday
I have one order that missed processing time although it was ordered and dispatched on the same day, Friday 18th and no bank holidays around that date.
Ordered placed mid-morning
Dispatched mid-afternoon
Checking on that order I see no 'Ship by'
I don't see the processing time displayed on my shop to the buyers. All I can see is - 'Arrives soon! Get it by 06-08 Sep if you order today
@AzanaPhotoFrames: This is an ongoing issue - there is a November 2022 response from an Etsy Admin to this issue at https://community.etsy.com/t5/Technical-Issues/Missed-star-seller-due-to-apparently-missing-processi... The one time this struck us we were able to "reschedule" the scheduled ship by date and that resolved it. Since a listing cannot be published without a processing time why is this a Star Seller metric?
If it says you "missed the processing time" did you mark it as dispatched and include the tracking on the day you sent it? That is how etsy's algorithm determines whether it was sent late or not.
@VintageRescueSquadYes, every time mark it as dispatched with the tracking number on the same day sent.
This order was dispatched at 3.15 pm (UK)
The only thing I can think of is when Etsy rolled out the 'order processing schedule' and I ticked and confirmed the 'Monday to Friday' in the delivery settings may have contributed to its hiccup.
Did you use a carrier that the star seller recognizes?
@FallenAngelBrass I'm confused, you can select "other" for the shipping carrier and enter in a tracking number. I have never heard of a list of recognized carriers to qualify for Star Seller, is this something new?
@BeaconwoodDettman: Etsy relies on a third party vendor - AfterShip.com - for tracking (and tracking number validation) and uses the data on the order. Supported shipping companies are available at https://www.aftership.com/carriers
@FallenAngelBrassYes, always use the same carrier on every order.
What puzzles me is - it's just that one order (dinged) that is no different to all my other orders.
Was the order over £10 and did you use tracking? If yes and no, then it says it wasn't shipped but really it means it didn't have tracking. I have found that for those orders over £10 if I use Etsy labels then I don't get dinged for no tracking.

The order was over £10 (25.75) and yes I uploaded the tracking at the same time as marking it as dispatched... every time.
All my items are over £10, I did exactly the same with all my other orders...so bizarre. I can't figure out why this particular order is different from what I got dinged for.
It was shipped (item collected by courier) and the tracking says delivered.
Ah I got it!
No ship-by date on the invoice - 'Scheduled to dispatch by 19 Aug 23' - this bit is missing.
How exactly this is my fault and why did that happen?
@AzanaPhotoFrames: "How exactly this is my fault and why did that happen?" This is an intermittently occurring glitch and it is not your fault. Since a listing cannot be published without a processing time why this is a Star Seller metric and why did this happen are questions that only Etsy can answer.
This was my response to Etsy regarding the processing time dinging Star Seller stats (as it did mine).
"This is a HUGE issue since it effects star seller status. Reading the forums shows this has been going on for nearly a year and should really have been already resolved. The interesting thing here is that the processing time populates in the Shipping Option setting when creating a listing. This is a mandatory field. The field is auto populated from the shipping profiles. These shipping profiles have a processing time field that is, again, a mandatory field. So it makes zero sense that it should be part of the Star Seller program since you require that data before a shipping profile can be saved. And to lower the rating percentage for that in Star Seller by saying there was no processing time is not only a disservice to sellers, it is a total and complete fabrication. "
Just read this in another thread:
Signed up! THANKS!
Also, what is Etsy's timeline for ending the "Star Seller" program?
