(REMOVED) ordered one of my items early in April and I got it in the mail in a timely manner. When it arrived in St. Louis, it got stuck, and both (REMOVED) and I started trying to get help. It has sat somewhere (?) since the 17th of April and just this last week it was determined that it was lost. So I made another item identical (REMOVED) made the mailing label tonight. It is going to show that is should have arrived around April 10th - obviously late! I treasure being a Stellar Seller and would ask you to not count this against me. I did my best, but I did learn a valuable lesson. There is no automatic insurance on First Class mail, so I lost the first postage, plus time and fabric.

@MyEclecticTreasure - Yes, first class packages do not have the automatic insurance coverage priority packages do. If you find you send a lot of first class packages consider adding a $1.00 to each listing price, or have a handling fee of $1.00 per package & grow a self-insured fund for instances such as this.
As for a ding to your Star Seller, if you've already printed the second label & shipped to your buyer there is nothing you can do about it.
In the future you could pay retail at the PO counter or sign on with Pirate Ship or another service for instances such as this.
You would get the better shipping rate on the label.
Then message your buyer advising them you have shipped the replacement with this ______ tracking number.
It appears you and the buyer are working thru the lost package situation gracefully and there shouldn't be any problems if you had done this. Basically the second package is never attached to the order except thru messages.
A less than nice buyer could open a case thru Etsy about the first one & get a full refund, plus keep the second you sent already. So in the end it would be up to you how you want to handle something like this.
I add insurance to items over a certain price. Figure out how much you are willing/able to lose through package loss and add insurance to all items over that amount.
I have actually never had a package lost. I have had packages “temporarily lost,” (once for quite a long time), but they have all eventually arrived at their destination. If I send another item, as you did, I ask the buyer to refuse delivery on the 2nd package if/when it arrives. If they don’t open the box and write “refused” on it, the PO will return it to you for free.
OP, you shouldn't mention any personal information about a buyer under Etsy rules. Edit your post now and take out the name, address, etc.
Please edit your post and remove the buyer's name. You're not contacting Etsy here, just other sellers on a public forum.
Thank you both. Do you have a solution for my problem?
