Pricing bug - items showing as more expensive than they are.

Jump to solution

Not sure how to contact Etsy to post about a bug so i'm making it known here but if anyone knows how to report this properly please let me know

Prices are showing incorrectly and are showing higher!

Here's an example:

I have a product that is £7.40 it is a digital product and I am in the UK so Vat will be added here at 20%, making the item £8.88.

I have a 15% off sale running, yet the item is showing on my main page as £9.06. This is totally incorrect and more than it should be even before the sale. When you click on the item, it reverts to its correct pricing. This is also incorrect when using search. Items are showing as more expensive than they actually are.

It's a display issue relating to VAT.

When you put digital items on sale, etsy shows the Sale Price (VAT included) with VAT added. Making it a higher priced than the crossed out original.

It only happens on shop page and search and not individual listings or cart.

It's a years long display issue, that etsy either can't work out how to fix, or won't fix.

There's nothing you can do.

Note - only seems to be happening on digital items that are on sale.

Oh yes, I stopped the sale because of the bug. It’s happening to other digital sellers running sales too

I am having the same issue, the products which i have set for 20$ are showing 24, when i am viewing them from the etsy marketplace, why is that? then when i go back to my shop page it shows me 20$. why are the prices increased in the marketplace? are they also increased in search? I haven't been able to get a single order, its been a month since i am running ads.

I am so confused.  I have only just opened my Shop, and I am selling a Physical Item. But Etsy have still added this VAT to my option and variation prices?

What can I do to get the prices corrected. As I will not sell anything at the prices they have increase them to. Other similar Artists, with shops similar to mine seem able to create an accurate price.  Why cant i?  and what can I do?

@MaxineBallardArt  Because you are using a POD that ships from outside the UK.

UK law changed in 2021, and Etsy are responsible for collecting VAT on physical items under £135 when they ship from outside the UK.
