I have made star seller every month since this program started, and make screenshots and download the data each month in case Etsy Customer Service decides that they want to actually have a real person from customer service assist.
i’m sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but etsy outsourced the forums a few years ago and admins aren’t here checking on topics like they used to. only your fellow sellers are here these days so they likely won’t see your post… the company that runs the forums, lithium, has nothing at all to do with etsy. that being said, recently i have seen admins closing duplicate threads or moving posts to a different sub so perhaps that recent 30% fee increase was put to good use and they are here from time to time these days (hey, a woman can dream…) but i’m also not sure you can count on a post being seen by an etsy employee. i seem to remember seeing a “share your feedback” link somewhere about the star thing program, it might have been on the page listing our current status? i’ll try and find it…
i would encourage you to voice your opinion/ concerns, every one of etsy’s customers (sellers!) should! in case you’d like to reach out to them directly, email might be the way to go? first line customer service techs are outsourced and can only address the most basic of issues and everything else is passed along to etsy departments. i read a forum post today from someone who’s shop was wrongfully suspended and she emailed and opened a support ticket and it took 8 days to get a reply and the situation resolved (she’s now back up and running). i mention this to say it will probably take awhile to get a response, and it might only be a canned “thanks for your input” but you will (hopefully) be heard.
since it became difficult to find the links for help, i’ve collected links where sellers mentioned they found help options. i hope one of these will work for you:
here is the link to the “how to contact support” from the seller’s handbook.
here is a link to initiate chat or email.
here is the link to request a callback.
or try this link or this link to email them.
if you do email them you *should* get an automated reply and once you do, you must reply to that email above the line of asterisks that their automated best guess solutions did not work. all you have to say is something like “i still need help” send the reply, and it should stay active.
Thank you very much @DreamGreatDreams
I will keep trying
You have no idea how helpful this was for my situation as well. how did you find these links cause I have been having sooo many issues trying to get etsy support til I found your comment.
@CreationByStephB At the top of the Forums you'll see Help and a drop down Help Center. Above "Featured articles" is "Selling with Etsy".
Here's the link
https://help.etsy.com/hc/en-us?segment=shopping
I still don’t see where she got the request a call link cause that’s what I ended up using since the emailing was getting me nowhere.
Maybe i’m just blind or overlooking something I don’t know but I couldn’t find anything about calling for a while.
Note that the link above is for shoppers. (It says shopping at the end of the link) There is a sellers section which will probably be better for sellers so your issue gets directed to the best sellers help and you don't have to waste time with copy and paste replies aimed at shoppers before you get actual help hopefully.
Here is my usual blurb about how to get help for sellers
How to contact etsy support for sellers
There is a direct link to the support ticket page in every shops shop manager - Just go to Shop manager > Community & help > Contact us
That will open the page to start a support ticket.
Once there select 'selling on etsy' then select issues.
Depending on the issue, they offer email, phone and/or chat support. Note that the phone support option recently changed to a request a call back system. There is no direct number sellers can call for etsy phone support. You can only request that they call you back.
You will need to click around a bit to get to the actual page with the contact options and at times it feels like endless maze loop of clicking and getting nowhere other than faq's that do not address your issues. You will need to get creative and click on options that may not match your issue completely. When you see 'I still need help' at the bottom of a page then click that....it will take you straight to the page with the available contact options.
Keep in mind that the phone support and live chat folks are just a call center and can only handle a limited list of issues. Everything outside of that they will bump up the support chain to someone who works for etsy proper to handle. Live chat and phone call back are only available sometimes it seems and the availability changes throughout the day.
Remember...the key is to click 'I still need help' when you see it.
Still not removed, with all the glitches Etsy has been experiencing, can you please add a glitch to remove star seller section from my dashboard?
I do not think this is something that can be removed from your dashboard, but off course you can ask Etsy. I suggest just ignoring it.
@CryzalisDesigns They won't remove the star seller. It's their baby.
Your option is to go beneath the star seller metrics and reduce your customer service so you fall below it. Do you really want to do that?
I also wish I could be rid of the patronising nonsense,
Infringers calling out resellers... smh... yes everyone "else" should follow the rules... (im going to assume because you have listings that appear to be removed from your shop, the missing listings that got reviews, you've been warned about infringing on intelectual properties of others).
"Inspired by" doesn't change anything when you are selling the items commercially. Fan art is when you make it, infringing or counterfeiting is when you "SELL" it.
Are you sure you didn't get your star seller revoked for breaking the rules? There have been many posts about people having their star seller permanently removed because they got caught with infringing items and you may not have "x'ed" out of the notice on your dashboard after it was removed from your shop, you may want to check your emails and see if there's something there that explains why they say you earned it on your "dashboard" but it doesn't seem like you're a star seller when i go to your shop.
for your information, these postings that you notice as removed, where removed because I apparently infringed on the following items.
Trademark application classes: 16,28 again this does not even make any sense as trademark 28 cover games, playthings, gymnastic and sporting articles (like baseball gloves), decorations for Christmas trees, amusements, game, and fishing apparatuses and trademark 16 covers paper, cardboard and goods made from these materials, not included in other classes; printed matter; bookbinding material; photographs; stationery; adhesives for stationery or household purposes; artists' materials; paint brushes; typewriters and office requisites.
I Make leather masks, not Christmas tree decorations, no way to appeal, and no reply from those making the claim.
The other infringement was from Ubisoft, this was for a mask I designed and made for a movie production company (movie appeared in the cinema so very hard for Ubisoft to claim ownership for my designs), at least Ubisoft did have the decency to reply and told me it has nothing to do with the design or mask, but a cosplayer was photographed wearing the mask with his assassins creed outfit.
You said what they are not, but not what they were, which I'm sure to do so you would have to say the copyrighted name or character the mask came from. Cosplay is dressing up in costume, selling your own replicas of items using copyrighted and trademarked brands in your marketing (titles, tags, descriptions, etc.) becomes counterfeit or infringement, saying inspired by does nothing legally when you sell the items. Just because someone reports the infringement the wrong way doesn't mean you were allowed to sell them item.
I got a ticket for jaywalking, but it's not fair because I wasn't walking, I was on roller blades...
@CryzalisDesigns I believe the Star Seller Message on your Dashboard will go away eventually (I don't remember how many days it takes after you've received the Star). *Someone correct me if wrong.
(You most likely know), You can X out some Dashboard Announcements after you've viewed and/or read them.
Hope this helps.
@ArtDollsbyJD I would never go below these metrics, customer service is extremely important to me, that is why it irritates me that ETSY customer service is so bad, I do not comprehend how anyone could think that customers should not receive or expect 100% quality and service. Without customers ETSY would not exist, or any company for that matter. To make things worse companies world wide have used the pandemic as an excuse to cut customer services and increase fees and they will continue to do so.
@ChillwolfArt it has been there for months, it won't go away and are not allowed to appeal
Thank You for explaining. I've seen it in the middle of the Dashboard; like the other Announcements (that's the one which goes away for me eventually).
It's always in the Left Column as well: "Star Seller" (that will never go away.
But I swear the one in the middle of the Dashboard did (I only know because I had it in Sept., Oct., Nov. (it was announced, then vanished after some time).

It actually from this series, but with a longer beak. I designed 5 in total in this series for a production company for a movie they were making, this one does not look like any of the masks in any of the assassins creed games, but a cosplayer at comic con wanted it for his assassins creed costume. Once I spoke to Ubisoft I was told it was because of this photo and nothing to do with the mask or it's design, which I accepted and removed the photo.
@CryzalisDesigns You may quality for the star badges by making the required metrics, but Etsy may have removed your ability to get the badges posted in your shop because of copyright infringement. Did you receive a message from Etsy about that?
I do not know believe they have an option to opt out of the star seller section appearing on your seller dashboard. You probably just have to put up with it being there.
