Hello,

Etsy is actively engaged in preventing scammers from targeting our community members. If you receive a suspicious message, please proceed with caution. Etsy Support will never ask you to provide personal information via Etsy Messages, such as your email address or password. Any legitimate message from us will show in your "From Etsy" folder.

If you receive a suspicious message, here’s how to report it:

  1. Sign in to Etsy.com and go to Your Account.
  2. Go to Messages
  3. Select the suspicious message from your inbox.
  4. Choose Mark as Spam.

You’ll find examples of common scammer techniques and phishing messages here in our Help Center. Read our Account Security Checklist in the Seller Handbook for more steps you can take to protect your account.

Report it as spam by putting it in the "Report" section. Or if this came as a email just delete and ignore it. There is no need to "get around it". Do NOT click on any links or  give out any information.

ETA: While your shop is not finished it is open and one can purchase from it so I do not know what you mean by "Etsy won't let me sell".  You do need to list your location, add an about page , terms for returns and excahnges, etc.

Your shop is open & people can buy already. Did you get some sort of message about confirming a bank account or sending money to someone/Etsy? If so, that would be a spam message & you can mark it as spam here. Don't reply or engage with those type of messages. Don't give out bank details, or personal info.
