Payments are not working optimally.

Customers are receiving a message stating that their payment cannot be processed immediately. There is also a message indicating that they will receive their product much later, even though it is a digital download.

Additionally, while some can pay using iDEAL, others are only able to use PayPal or credit card, even though they are all from the same country. Anyone else experiencing the same problems?

Both issues you cite are, most probably, Payment Processing issues, so IDEAL and Pay Pal would be responsible, not Etsy.

With IDEAL, only Buyers in NL have access to IDEAL as a Payment method. Many Buyers using IDEAL fail to complete the final stage of the process which is to return to Etsy after completing the IDEAL payment to finalize the transaction.

With Pay Pal, you have Etsy Payments so Pay Pal is integrated. As a Seller, you will never know if a Buyer uses the Pay Pal option at checkout. The only time you would know is if the Buyer contacted you and advised of what Payment Method they chose at Checkout. Pay Pal often puts a "hold" on Payment Processing to check the Account / Credit Card being used.

For the issue of why some Buyers in NL can use IDEAL and some cannot Etsy advised that the default account currency should be set to Euro (EUR) and the default Country must be set to the Netherlands

Either way, the issue is not created by the Etsy System and the Buyers would have to investigate with IDEAL or Pay Pal to see why their transaction is not completing.

I have been having the same issue for the last two days! and it is extremely exhausting and disappointing that Etsy does this. I never had my customers' orders processing before but in the last two days my customers literally CANNOT ORDER FROM ME! One of my customer sent me several messages saying that they ordered 3 times and it gets getting cancelled. I see that Etsy takes a LONG TIME processing it and cancel it. I do not believe it has something to do with the buyer because they also did not know why it kept getting cancelled. Even today again, I have an order that is been in process for too long. i never had this issue before so for the last 6-7 months and suddenly 2 days in a row no one can order anything? THAT IS SUSPICIOUS! PLEASE HELP PLEASE

It is NOT Etsy whi is cancelling the Payment.

Etsy dord NOT Process the Payments. Etsy uses a Third Party Payment Processor and if the Processor declines the Payment, Etsy is notified and cancels the Order.

When IDEAL is the Buyer's chosed Payment Method, The Buyer often neglects to complete the final step, which is to return to Etsy to finalize the Order. Also, to use IDEAL, the Buyer must be in NL and have theie currency set to EURO.

PayPal/WorldPay/Ayden/Stitching Custodia are other Payment Processors used by Etsy. All have rigorous processes,  according to International Banking Regulations, underpinning their fraud and anti money laundering detection responsibilities.

Sometimes, Payments are declined for reasons we cannot see and even when the same CC works for other transactions.

It could be just a coincidence that you are seeing more Payment Processing delays/failures recently.

Or the Payment Processor/s may have increased their security processes.

It may be that the only thing you can do is advise the buyers to use a different CC or, if they used IDEAL, check that they completed the whole process or refer them to IDEAL to ask why the payments are not processing.

Hello, 

I understand your point. However, my customers say the money is charged from their bank account and they even receive an email from Etsy saying that their order is complete. I do not understand how this can happen. Also, one of my other customer said, they order so many things from Etsy all the time and even that moment they did from other sellers as well. And somehow I am the only seller that has this problem. They said they shop from Etsy all the time, and this never happened to them.  I truly do not understand this.

Also my buyers were from France and the U.S. and not from NL.
