Hi - of late I have had orders that went through being cancelled by Etsy afterwards. The item still shows as sold out. Is this a know issue?
thanks
Hi - the order was only visible under the order tab and not the dashboard, otherwise I would have seen it.
this happened again …. I have now decided to check every tab regardless - Etsy’s site is just unreliable at the moment. Hope someone gets a grip and sorts is out. The problem is also the lack of communication explaining what happened. You end up discovering things by accident!

Other sellers have been reporting the same thing.
When an order is cancelled you may have to relist it again manually. You will get all the fees back for that transaction.
You shouldn't have to relist. Contact Etsy to ask what the issue is. If the sale failed then the item should have been relisted by Etsy immediately.
Indeed but this time it has not happened. Perhaps it is because of weekend. The buyer seems legitimate.
I've started waiting 24 hours to ship because Etsy seems to do this quite often. The sale shows as approved, then a few hours later, Etsy unapproves it. I think perhaps they are using more aggressive fraud screening these days due to the rampant scammer attacks. When they cancel the sale, it should be put back in stock, but that doesn't always happen.
This usually happens when there is a payment issue ... cc declined, reported stolen, not enough funds, etc. It would make sense Etsy would automatically relist the item, but sometimes you have to manually relist. Always best to wait a minimum 24-hours before shipping, but cancellations can happen even after waiting that long. If it happens after shipping the order, you can file for a USPS "package intercept", which costs $17.50, but if it's a big or expensive order, the fee is worth it just to get your item back!
I just had this happen today, and the buyer sent me an angry message asking why his order was cancelled. I never even got an order from him, and told him that Etsy cancelled it, not me. I suggested he contact Etsy to find out more.
Should the order not have at least showed up on your dashboard as pending?
@CryzalisDesigns: "Should the order not have at least showed up on your dashboard as pending?" It depends on where in the process the payment was declined. If it failed right away (for example, invalid card number, declined by issuer, etc) then no. Usually the only ones that show up as pending are the ones that had later in the process issues such as being flagged by a fraud detection algorithm or there is a delay in confirmation by the card issuer.

@CryzalisDesigns The payment processing company could have cancelled the order before it got that far.
Thanks @BagmakerSupply and @NanaLetha I assumed they always appeared in the dashboard
