There has been a problem with gift messages not appearing to the seller and I received a one star review because of it.
This problem has been going on for years and Etsy has not fixed it.

I reported the review and received the canned response of how the review does not meet the requirements for removal even though the review specifically mentions Etsy.
I'm unable to contact Etsy further about this as I have no chat feature and the "contact Etsy" screen is blank. Another Etsy site problem that hasn't been addressed or fixed!
So unfair that I have to keep a one star review because Etsy refused to fix site problems.
Has anyone else experienced missing gift messages? Or has anyone else not have chat or customer service pages?
I don’t have gift messages enabled
I have gift messages enabled, but most of the time, it is not available to the buyers or they cannot find it. They usually message me the gift message. I have been contacted that a gift message was supposed to be sent, but it was not included on the "gift" receipt that prints.
Oh yes, I think it is very confusing for customers now, not sure why Etsy changes things that actually worked well!
There are laws regarding what Etsy can remove, and what they can't, and that doesn't fall within the scope of the law for removal.
If it's an outdated version of the app, which the previous thread said, there is nothing etsy can do.
They've released a version of the app that now works, that's all they can do.
I have gift messages entered correctly - the annoying bit is not being able to remove it from the packing slip, so you can see the exact amount of money paid in local currency, for invoices for overseas.
Thank you for the app explanation but there IS something Etsy can do.
They can remove my 1 star review.
@CraftyCornishMaids It's not just an app problem. A month or so ago there was a thread about this. A bunch of us who had gift wrap and gift messages enabled went into each other's shop and could not find gift messaging or gift wrap in each other's shop. Using my desktop, not using the app, we could not find either.
I was at Etsy UP a couple of weeks ago, and brought it up to staff. They said they knew it was an issue, and were "working on it".
This has been an ongoing issue for months now.
Correction, I should say there has been an ongoing issue with gift messages and gift wrapping, the OP's issue is different but still an issue in the same vein. It's a huge problem with the holidays approaching, and Etsy pushing "gift gifting" without fixing it.
@koolstuff2 So sorry this has happened to you.
@bradgoodell I love it when Etsy says they are working on it. How many times have we heard that.
@koolstuff2 I don't know. She said her receipt was marked for message so she would have checkmarked the box on the first page. And she must have added one so maybe the information did not get included in your copy. Sorry about the review but the buyer is within her rights for her opinion and it is legally protected. Etsy cannot remove as it does not fit the criteria for removal.
I disabled gift messages because only one line was appearing to me, so the recipient wouldn't see who it was from. Despite this I still sometimes get them, the whole thing needs a rework IMO.
@koolstuff2 I think the only reason the customer mentioned Etsy was because you "blamed" Etsy for the problem. Even if that is true, or you believe it to be true, probably not a reason for Etsy to remove the review. The customer is not degrading Etsy - just saying that you blamed Etsy for something.
Confusing, but I can't see Etsy removing the review considering how the word/name was used.
Several people have said that my review does not qualify for removal. One of the requirements for removal is that the "Review is about Etsy or a third party that a seller did not choose."
It IS about Etsy. And it WAS and IS and Etsy problem.
Besides, I shouldn't have to bear a 1 star review for a problem that Etsy caused. Nothing I did prompted this review.
I would submit it again for removal. I'm really sorry this has happened to you. Your buyer is being extremely unfair.
It has to be ONLY about etsy,
and even though it mentions etsy, the review is not ABOUT etsy, it is about the way you handled it.
6. Are only about things outside the seller’s control, such as a shipping carrier (mentioned by name), Etsy, or a third party
@koolstuff2 She didn't blame Etsy. You blamed Etsy is what she is referring to. So it does not fit for removal as she did not say Etsy. A small but distinct difference.
You can try again to have it removed and maybe you will get lucky.
Thank you. I appreciate your kindness.
It is even more frustrating that Etsy won't fix known problems but instead focuses on worthless things that no one wants.
