Omitting a search word doesnt omit the word, why?

Heya, Im trying to search for things and usually theres an excess of items Im not interested in. When I use " - " to omit the word, like, -shirt or -hat I only get shirts or hats, like it doesnt recognize that the symbol means "do not show this thing". I contacted support about this weeks ago and they told me to be more specific in my searches to not get the unwanted items... generally I dont know whats out there so I want to browse all things except whatever is flooding the results. They said they'd report the issue to the dev team but I doubt it.

The "-word" search term doesn't work anymore. Hasn't in a about a year or two.

@ArtduLuna - Works on the other E site (I just did it today), just not here : (

That's because here, they want to show you all kinds of stuff, not simply what you are looking for...

If you are trying to omit say shirts, filter down to whatever category you are looking for..say hats.(and  they will still probably show you some shirts)

Apparently Etsy didn't like that wonderful, helpful function so they did away with it.
