The 3 messages in question showed that my response rate was more than 24 hrs. These 3 messages were initiated by me, not messages from Linda, Dawn and Janie. For example, I sent a message to Linda returning partial shipping costs, which had a chatty mention that the weather here was getting chilly. She replied to me saying thank you for the shipping costs return and the weather was getting chilly by her. I didn't send another message to her because I felt that her reply to me was the end of the conversation.
@HappyDesignsbyJune - Unfortunately no reviews will be forthcoming. You can obtain star seller at a later date so try not to think too much about it. Here's additional info for you.
Many have done the same thing you did (not respond). Here is what Etsy Staff says:
"The Message response rate counts initial messages from all Etsy members, both buyers, and other sellers. This is because fellow sellers could be potential buyers for your shop. If it's not a spam message it requires a response within 24 hours. If it is a spam message you can mark it as such and it won't count towards your score."
Hello, and welcome to the Etsy Community Forums!
We suggest using the Forums' Search function prior to posting (just be careful to not bump an old thread that hasn't seen any activity in the last months/years), as questions regarding the Star Seller Program have been extensively covered by our fellow members since its launch, as well as our official Star Seller Guide, which contains in-depth answers to some of the more common questions regarding Message Response Rate, Shipping, Local Pick-Up, Digital Orders, and other topics. You can check it out here:etsy.com/starseller.
Having said that, and since this thread does not pertain to a technical issue, it will be closed to prevent it from going off-topic.
Thank you!

I always reply to those simply because while "I" initiated the message string the reply is their FIRST message to me. A lot of people say this is not true and doesn't happen but I know for a fact it did with me and I got dinged so now I simply reply "You're welcome".
Thank you for your response. The other two messages were from me as a buyer asking an Etsy Seller questions about items I was interested in buying. As my shop wasn't even a year old, I was so happy to receive Star Seller. I'm sure that this award influenced buyers to purchase my items. To be taken away has been a blow to me as I've tried very hard to be a seller that anyone would be happy to buy from me. Is there a way to have this reviewed?
@HappyDesignsbyJune: Probably almost everyone on this forum can sympathize with you but unfortunately Etsy has made it clear that they will not manually adjust Star Seller data.
Hi, Thank you for the info. Etsy really needs to address this issue since it could affect our sales.
