I sell greeting cards. I used the term "Horse Card" to search for a card I know is in my store, using my desktop computer. But it doesn't show up in the list of items returned.
The card has "Horse Card" as the first two words in the title.
When I searched with other words that are also in the title, the card shows up.
This seems very inexplicable.
I checked it multiple times.
It also doesn't show up when I search my store using the app on my iPhone.
I am concerned that potential buyers aren't seeing everything I have available. Can someone please address this issue?
Do you own all of the art work in your shop? Do you have the rights to it or are they all in public domain? It seems the etsy is being swept clean of copywrite infringement lately. Most folks don't even know they are doing it. You can't make a product out of art work you don't have rights to unless it is in public domain.
Everything I use to make my repro items is either:
In the public domain
My own artwork
Or I paid for the right to use it.
And fwiw, when I began my business I had a long talk with a lawyer who specialized in copyright law. He told me exactly what I could and could not use, and why.
For example, the work of the artist Margaret Tarrant is in the public domain, and I can use that.
But work by a similar artist, Cicely Mary Barker, is not in the public domain, and her descendants guard her copyright zealously.
I have done research on all my images, and have been involved in the world of vintage ephemera for almost 30 years.
I am very careful not to list items which have copyright issues. I appreciate your warning but I am definitely careful to stay on the right side of the law in this.
I typed Horse Card into your shop's search bar and a horse hunt card came up first.
Thanks for trying, but the one I am not seeing show up is the one which does show up if you type "Second Whip".
