Please let this be a fixable bug: Someone just added one of my items to her favorites list, so, of course I had to check it out. Imagine my surprise when I saw that I now accept exchanges??! WTH? My policy is returns only….everywhere. This won’t end well.

I went back and looked at the other items that person favorited and went to those listings and their policies were correct.
I've never done exchanges, it's a PITA plus you have NO record of the exchange. If the price of the exchange is higher or lower then there's that to deal with. Then you have to set up a listing for shipping cost.
And then you get some buyers that think you'll exchange a $10 item for a $25 item.
I have to deal with this some for pet products I make. Even though I don't do exchanges.
Seems some buyers buy the smallest size then when they get it they want to exchange it for a larger size and don't want to pay the extra cost and also don't want to pay shipping to get it nor pay to ship the wrong size back to me.
99.9% of these buyers never return the item for a refund either nor buy the correct size.

I have done some exchanges and I must have super buyers as not one has ever argued about paying return shipping or price difference. And they ALWAYS have started their inquiry with "I know I messed up and ordered the wrong size---" (LOL)
And yes, they also ALWAYS seem to order a size or 2 too small, never too large!

Most every time I've had someone order the wrong size and want to exchange it, they expect me to lose money.
They don't want to pay shipping, the difference in price, etc.
And some of these buyers even thought they could keep the wrong size and get the correct size.
I've had a few even say, "Well I thought that you'd just send me the size I need and I wouldn't have to pay anything".
Why would anyone expect that?
I know I never would expect a seller to be out of money because I screwed up and ordered the wrong size.
So now if someone wants to exchange something I tell them I don't do exchanges and they can send it back and I'll refund the item cost and they can order the size needed. Some do and some don't.

Well, it actually has happened to me rarely but so far I have not had those problems.
I have had a couple of not too nice buyers but that was years ago and early on , but it had nothing to do with returns or exchanges.
Finger crossed for the future!

I've been fighting another glitch since last weekend: trying to message another seller who has purchased something from me and was interested in more of the same product. She sent a message, I was able to reply to say I'd look and now when I try to respond to her with the information, it comes back as user not found. Yet her store page is active and she purchased another smaller order from me - because I presume she thinks I've ignored her.

I would use her email and tell her what happened--then ask her to contact YOU by starting a new thread--that way you can keep it on Etsy if that works.

Thanks for your post! I just discovered I was offering exchanges (Etsy's idea, not mine!) which doesn't work for my shop since my items are one of a kind at various prices. I went into settings and changed it to returns only.

@DivineCrossings You said you doubled checked your Settings >> Check your listing. You have the option of Returns and Exchanges 30 days OR "Returns Only" 30 days. Sounds like you applied the wrong policy setting in the listing.

@SugarTaffySoap @I double checked every. single. listing. My policy in settings is returns only. It’s applied to all of my listings. Returns only appears in every single listing. It only says “exchanges accepted” in a favorites sub category. The link to the listing is on page one…clearly, it says “returns only.”

@SugarTaffySoap I have not checked the wrong thing in my policies. I only accept returns but have the same problem when someone faves a listing and adds to a collection. It’s not a seller error but either another Etsy test or a mess up by the coders.

I have found that happen sometimes when I copy an older sold out item that had picked up some of the other functions. I find them by checking the returns and exchanges button on the listing and shipping too.

@DivineCrossings and everyone else. Good Morning from Australia. Well..... you can add me to the List of affected Shops.
Everything in all 5 Shops is OOAK and all are set to Returns Only,
A Listing on the main "Favorites" page under "Favorited Items" simply shows the Thumbnail, Title and Price
But if a "Favorited" Item is added to a Buyer's "Collection" every Listing has a more detailed "synopsis" under the Thumbnail and shows Thumbnail, Title, Price, Shipping Cost, EDD and Return / Exchange details.
Apparently, I now only accept Exchanges, but, in fact, I only accept Returns.

@DivineCrossings Good Luck with that. If some people in this Thread cannot see what we are talking about, can we really expect a Customer Support Rep to understand.
To me, it looks like they have changed something so Listings in "Colletions" show more information under the Thumbnail (Shipping Cost / EDD / Returns and Exchanges. It may be imbedded in the general "Favorites" presentation, but we cannot see this because the information on general "Favorites" is just Title / Price and Discount.
From what I can see, lf a Listing offers Returns and Exchanges the "Collection" information is correct and matches the expanded Listing information. But if a Listing offers Returns Only, this is defaulting to Exchanges Only in the "Collection" but it is correct on the actual Listing

All of these bugs...it is so annoying! I can't even edit my shop without running into a bug! I had people tell me in search my items show "free shipping" not the "free shipping over $35" or however they word this.

I'm so upset with a coupon cart glitch I can't get ride of... I get the slide from the side coupon since November 3rd. Enough to drive anyone crAzy. Sooo... welcome to my world. lol.

@SugarTaffySoap If you look at the "Favorite Items page (the general one) you will not see the Return / Exchange information. The actual Listing, if expanded, will show correct information.
But Listings placed in a "Collection" show more information under the Thumbnail and it is in this information that the incorrect Return / Exchange information is showing.

@SugarTaffySoap @That’s as it should be…I have 82 listings all of which are returns only. Etsy seems to change that at their whim when a favorite is added to a sub-category/collection.
