I have used it in the past, maybe a few months ago and had no problem with it. I prefer the old listing form and never have problems.
I was renewing sold out listings with new information and it I get to the end and always an error.
How can they possibly roll this out? Does Etsy not want us to sell things? We hardly can with a listing form that refuses to work
Yes, I checked everything.
Absolutely stunningly stupid and short sighted.
What's missing is the link underneath the options to search the categories manually, that we see in the old form - If you don't see your item's category, try being more specific. You can also add them manually.
Some sellers may never use it, if most of their items fall into the same category, but others, like vintage sellers, list items in lots of different categories.
@LanasLuckyFinds The problem with that is that more often than not, the suggestions are totally inaccurate. I think it's another example of how vintage is ignored by the powers-that-be.
This may be another "like eBay does it" idea except that as usual it loses in the copying. There the suggestions are usually right on, and if they aren't you can easily access the full category list to choose your own. (The category list is also 100 times better, but that's another topic.)
I also can't get the sold out ones to renew if there are changes. No changes and it renews, but if I change out any photos to newer ones it won't renew.
Maybe etsy is doing this on purpose? Many sellers game the system by editing sold out items to a completely different item. That's why you might notice things in your favorites you did not favorite, links to items on the internet not going to what you expect them to, etc. They do it to get the boost from the prior sale but it was something completely different that sold.
Guess I wouldn't blame etsy if they decided listings must be renewed as is but then there is always the work around of editing them after they've been renewed. People will just do that instead if they need to make changes or are trying to reuse a sold out listing to retain the sales history.
@michellepatterns This thought occurred to me as well.
I did have 2 identical items and I needed to correct a spelling error in the Sold Listing before Renewing. Making that small (essential) change locked out the Renew option.
At the time it occurred to me that this may be intentional on Etsy's part as we have all seen the "gamers" who used Renew / Sold to List new items but retain the Sales History of completely different Items.
It looks like the poor behaviour by some has, again, impacted negatively on those of us who used Renew / Sold correctly
The only info I am editing in a renewed listing is the quantity of product in each variation and I get the error message. They can't possibly do away with it... then why offer restock requests? Customers who have a restock request on an item get notified when you relist a sold out item. I pay for that service in Etsy Plus, it's the only reason I pay for Etsy Plus.
@CarpetCollectionAU, sorry, I'm still a little confused...how can I have a sales history on one of a kind items? Though I may duplicate designs, no 2 are ever alike, and I only have one listed at a time.
@SunriseMosaicsbyBeth I was not talking about OOAK.
If you have OOAK items, Etsy has stated that every Listing must be a NEW listing. You can COPY / DUPLICATE a previous Listing, but you cannot RENEW and then change photos and details to turn that SOLD Listing into a NEW/DIFFERENT item completely.
Have a look at @michellepatterns comment above your latest Post
I tried to list this afternoon and the new or old form would not work, when you try to “Submit” the listing you get an error message, tried everything.
I’ve been selling on Etsy forever.
This has literally been the worst glitch ever.
How are we supposed to move forward?
Sounds like everyone is getting the same message from tech support—just be patient. In the meantime?
No apologies, no information.
This might be the thing that sends me packing.
This is ridiculous.
Here is my work around and I prefer to use Etsy. If I have to fiddle with something to get it to work or keep getting error messages the item just gets listed somewhere else. I dont have time to play around with beta testing. Same for the other platforms I sell on. If it doesnt work or the site is glitching I move on.
Make the listing active again, and then go back into it to edit/update.
That worked for me today when I was trying to change and edit a few previously deactivated listings:
It wouldn’t hold or save my new edits/ information until I first activated the old listing as it was, then once active, I could edit it and update it.
HTH.
I feel as frustrated as you, have wasted so much time trying to up load new products, does not matter if l copy a simular one start from scratch just keeps crashing so fed up
I would lay down money that these fatal errors are happening because Etsy is working - in the live system - on fixing bugs and meeting their promises for the new listing form by June 25th.
When, oh when, will they invest in a test system, so we sellers can stop being the mugs who find the bugs!
@DaysofYoreTreasures Because the "mugs who find the bugs" actually know what they are doing whereas the "kids playing in the sandpit" do not?
I was editing a delisted item.No sales history, just a one off. Got to the end and it poofed! So I listed the item with the corrections as new. An hour or so later the deactivated listing (with all the mistakes) turns up.. as an active listing. Bonkers.
However, my main gripe about the new listing is that I cannot crop videos to square any more. I always, always do that. So now I have to either make them square on my phone, which is not as easy as sliding the focus box on the old form, or use a 3rd party app, wasting my time.
why does it keep saying.
i have NO sections in my shop.
and to make one.
of course i have sections.
i have 17 sections.
so then i have to publish.
and go into my listings page.
choose that listing.
change the section from *no section* to the section it belongs in.
and hit publish again.
how does this save me any time at all?
This has been happening lately with the old form, too, although it never used to. It is a pain!
Not sure if you know that you don't have to open the listing to fix it. If you go to it in your list of listings and click on the Gear symbol at the right, one of the options is to change the section.
yes i know about the gear.
but i wonder.
how many sellers do.
plus it looks like a daisy.
i usually use the *editing options* since i can do it in bulk and lots more options.
and we should not have to do work-arounds when etsy says this is the *time saving* version of the listing form.
@nineteen27 Good, I wasn't sure from your post whether you knew about the "shortcut" or not. You mean it's not streamlined? /sarc
The new form has been around for a long time now and seller feedback has been extensive, yet it still doesn't work right. What chance is there for it all to be fixed in the next 16 days?
I have pretty consistently tried this new form out and I agree. It is way more time consuming. Way more clicks. You have to delete stuff to then fill it in instead of the new stuff you’re typing just filling in on its own. Such a bummer that this is going to happen.
More clicks, popup menus that could be on one page, having to scroll down to see the "submit" button on thumbnails, still has all the same thumbnail glitches as the old form, ugly interface with fields too far apart, photos are getting added twice, and now it has a brand new error message when I submit the listing that doesn't seem to keep it from posting but is one more stupid snag...
It is very bad.
I've been using it since the beginning without issues, but for the last couple days having the same problem renewing sold out items from within the listing form. It works for me in the app and from the main listings page though.
Agreed, this is slowing me down SOOOO bad. Etsy has made my business harder, yet again. The real kicker is that with the dumb tab at the bottom, by the time I've edited my listing to where I want it, my visual window into my listing is one inch tall. The rest of the screen is taken up by the garbage info at the bottom. I also don't understand how having to click all these buttons makes it faster? EPIC FAIL!
I have been using the new one ever since they introduced it. I have never had any problem with it until they announced they were getting rid of the old one. The other day the new one was unusable so I switched to the old one and it didn't work either. So, they made the announcement and then broke something. It would be best to postpone things for now.
Why not keep both forms and let the seller decide which one works best for their business?
