Narrowing a search--Success!

I recently did a search that resulted in 900+ results.

I tried changing my search words, using quotations, and rearranging my terms, but nothing happened.

I finally tried the sort option and chose By Highest Price.

4 listings came up, exactly what I had typed in!

Just thought I'd share.

Thanks for sharing!

It is sad that buyers have to jump through hoops to find what they want to buy.

Did you  notice that when you sort by highest price, that you go from hundreds of items to just a few?

and, unfortunately, they DO exclude some relevant listings.

Re: Narrowing a search--Success!

Am I the only one who wonders why - when using an option to sort By Price - that 896+ results disappear?
That only 4 remain.
Does this mean that only those four results were really & truly relevant to the search terms entered?

Note, I also tried doing this a couple of times on search results that were strewn with anything & everything. But I found this can also eliminate items I might be interested in. They were on page one with way too much "junk" (how do digital listings get mixed in with a search for vintage??) so sorted by price & after scanning the remaining two pages or so those relevant items had disappeared too.

Yes, it does eliminate relevant listings.

And, yes, Etsy will now show you items out of category. You can ask for vintage but sometimes it seems they'll slip handmade in as well.

I've found that repeating words in the search bar sometimes gives the AI an idea of what's important.

I wish you could hide sellers from your results.    There are some digital sellers that require a ridiculous commercial license and I have no desire to buy their items - they clog up my search if they went all in on a theme so I'd just rather not see their listings at all.

Amen.

I wish they would bring back the -minus option.

Well, even just like you can favorite - why not hide too?

I'd just rather not see any of their items and no matter how many times Etsy suggests them, I'm not buying.
