GREENDLY.ETSY has been hacked. Please help report the shop so it can be paused or closed if it has to. My email and password have been changed i was able to log in using backup codes but I still can't change back password or email. I am so scared I have my banking and personal information here I don't want to close the shop even though i have access to doing so right now because ive worked on this for years and since the hacker has the email and password they can just reopen it. Please etsy support help me recover my store I can provide proof i am the original owner. If it can't be recovered please close the store permanently I'm afraid they will commit fraud with my information.
Hi there @Greendly
Sorry to hear about the matter, we have however escalated your case to our account specialists who will be able to assist in resolving the issue.
Thank you!
Sorry this is happening to you @Greendly maybe a moderator will be along shortly to notify the right people within Etsy
Thank you
I don't understand. You say you have access to the shop now but you don't want to close it. But you're also asking people to report it so that Etsy will close it. If you have access to it, why can't you change the email and password?
because certain parts require a PW to change details, if the hackers changed the PW then the seller does not know the PW to enable the OP to change certain details
Yes I know its super confusing
@Greendly So sorry to hear this. When you say you have backup codes, were you using an authenticator app to login to your account? if so, it is very worrying indeed that a hacker can get past that.
They have gotten past the phone text verification as well. I have no idea how.
I would strongly suggest you do a thorough scrub of all of the devices you use to access your Etsy shop for virus/malware.
Keep an eye on all of your on-line activities including banking & any other accounts you have.
Please everyone report the store Greendly the hacker has kicked me out. They are listing furniture and its a scam.
@Greendly Agreeing with @JMOldeVintage and would advise you also contact your bank/s to let them know what's happened and block all other online accounts you have (eg. paypal, ebay, Amazon, Mobile phone provider etc) for the time being. I was hacked last year (SIM swap fraud) and because they could change my passwords, they opened a credit account with Paypal and ordered themselves an orange velvet sofa on Ebay. I had informed as many companies as I could think of when I realised what was happening, but completely forgot about Paypal and Ebay.
@IceMaidens Yes I have contacted my bank. Thank you for the other suggestions i will do that as well.
@JMOldeVintage Can you please help out by reporting the account. They are trying to scam people out of a lot of money the furniture theyre pretending to sell is up in the $500s
@Greendly When I click on your shop from your profile icon, it says 'no items listed at this time' so I'm really confused that you're seeing furniture listed in your shop? Have they changed your shop name in some subtle way? Am I looking at the wrong shop?
It is because I had access a few hours ago using the backup codes and deleted all the listings and paused the store, but im sure theyre uploading them as we speak right now. I got a text from etsy for the login code but they were able to get past that. Can you still report it.
Yes, call the bank's security dept even if it is the weekend, as well as your credit cards. Use Ccleaner (free) and Malwarebytes (also free) to scrub your computer and do that every few days for a while. Note that if you use your phone to manage your shop, the security may not be as strong as your computer.
Set up pins for your accounts, 2 party authentication (where you have to receive a phone text code for each time you sign in), lock your credit reports so they can't set up new accounts in your name. You would have a pin to temporarily unlock the credit report if you need to make a major purchase, such as a car, then lock again. It looks like Etsy has emptied your shop for now, which is all to the good while they sort out the issue. Keep written records of what is happening, what steps you have taken, and all pins. Check all of your accounts often. You can get through this if you are persistent. We did.
When I fist looked at your shop it was in vacation mode with the announcement that your shop had been hacked.
Your shop is now off vacation mode, but the blob graphic displayed stating that you have no listings at this time.
You say you got a text from Etsy with the login codes, but the hackers got in again?
First thing I'd do is get your phone's security checked.
Thank you for your suggestioni didnt even think about the credit but i have done that now
@Greendly Here we go again. I'm very sorry this has happened to you; it's been going on way too much lately.
Great advice from others. Please report this to the proper authorities in your country as well. Also, there is an Admin who has popped into some Threads re: Hacked Accounts.
@FabioMcMustache Can you help the OP please. Another Hacked Account, of which we are seeing way too much lately. Thank You in advance.
Thank you so much, hope they can help me!
Sorry to ask again, but was your account using Etsy’s 2 factor ID (where Etsy text you a code) or an authenticator app (where you enter a code from the app and if you lose access to the app, you can enter a backup code?)
If the former, it sounds like someone can read your texts and you need to contact your mobile provider and find out if anyone has been in contact with them, claiming to be you, and if so, what did they request.
Yes that is my thought as well that my phone has been hacked somehow because how did they get the text code. However I am not so sure because when I had access I looked at the login info I saw they began entering my account two weeks ago. I signed them off this monday when i first noticed suspicious activity and saw an email connected that was not mine. Signed that one off changed password. Tried to change email was unable to they must have hacked into my gmail. They have logged in several times since and I did not receive any text code up until the last time they logged in and it was not me.
I have all of my accounts info on my phone (ive changed just today) but if they had access to my phone my guess is they would have tried to log in to another account and etsy has been the only one hacked in fact i have two etsy shops this one is the only one affected.
My gmail is probably the answer but it is scary too because it is a gmail business account I have a very strong password that was not even saved to any of my devices only written down on my notebook I swear. So this is super weird.
@ArtandArtisan ‘s advice to make notes of everything that has happened and all new passwords and pins you’ve set up is good. When this sort of thing happens it’s all a blur of fear and panic and days and nights all merge into one long nightmare. I hope Etsy are helping you and that you’ll soon recover from this. I would report your shop, but I just can’t see where that option is when I click on it?
