My STATS are broken. I proved it to Etsy. They admitted there's a problem. No help yet. Really mad.

For a while now I suspected my STATS were not working. I noticed "Favorites" on items that would show up on my phone notifications, but not the actual listings. About 20% of all the favorites I receive do NOT get recorded on my listings.

I asked them if this affects listing performance. They couldn't answer me. I do not know why.

I proved with screenshots there's a problem.

They told me they would hand my issue over to the tech support. That was 2 days ago.

I know it's the weekend, but this is frustrating. I'm really angry that there is a glitch on my stats, and I cannot seem to get help or suspect I WON'T get help, and there is a distinct possibility that it's affecting my shop negatively.

 

I just wanna dump my store and start over. That's how pissed I am.

There have been many long-time sellers who have been getting their legitimate listings removed left and right for months now.  Some have had their very successful shop put on vacation mode for no reason.   These sellers have contacted Support and were told their problem will be sent to the appropriate department, are being investigated, and told to look for an email.  Those sellers have been waiting weeks that turn into months with no help, sometimes not even an acknowledgement.

Not to downplay your situation, but I don't think you should sit around waiting for any more assistance.  Favorites are nice to get, but they don't carry much weight in regard to your shop, visibility, possible sales, etc. and haven't for years now.  Also good to remember is that buyers who favorite something now get nagged with a pop up on almost page they view. Many have stopped fav'ing things because of that annoyance.  It could be that those buyers wound up unfav'ing your items simply because they too were annoyed by the constant ''reminders''.

Dumping your shop because of a glitch like that is somewhat drastic, no?

What counts are, yes, the number of sales, but also photo quality, good titles, length of time the seller has been around, etc.  Favorites are very low on the algorithm, if they're counted at all.

It's my understanding that favorites that CONVERT to sales carry a lot more weight.

I agree with VP that a glitch in favorites is a minor problem IMO.

I see you added a little more to your nested reply.  Having to go back to the listing to unfav the listing takes 5 seconds, one second if all they do is unclick the red heart on the listing while they were on their favorites page.

FYI, sellers have also unfav'd things because of those pop ups, so it's safe to assume that buyers do, too.

I never said the glitch you're experiencing is your fault, but getting pissed off about it is useless.   I see you're not that active in the Forums, but if you were, you'd know I wasn't making crap up.  You'd also agree with BagmakerSupply that Support's response about sending it to a tech person is their way of appeasing you so you'll end the call.

@YardWest: "They couldn't answer me. I do not know why." Probably it is because if they have not been provided with the information they cannot pass it on to you.

The display of stats has been an issue on Etsy for a very long time and discrepancies between the app and the browser are not uncommon. We can only hope that the numbers used for listing quality scores are calculated better than the ones they display to sellers.

"... there is a distinct possibility that it's affecting my shop negatively." At least as far as favorites go, not likely. They have not carried much, if any, weight since sellers started the 'favorite mine and I'll favorite yours' games in an attempt to pervert the system.

"They told me they would hand my issue over to the tech support." Most likely it is Step 3 in the script book to end the conversation.

"That was 2 days ago." @TheVintagePineapple  responded to that very eloquently.

"Minor problem"?

There shouldn't be ANY problems. Our stores are supposed to be WORKING, especially with stats and data, you know, to help us make informed decisions?

@YardWest: You are absolutely correct that things should work correctly, and that things which do not should not be accepted as 'that is how things are'.

"... when compared to an exact copy of that listing ..." A situation that should never occur on Etsy and Etsy seems to be working very hard to even eliminate similar.

Can anyone point to any source that says favourites are counted for very little? According to search rank disclosure:

"we factor in a combination of data such as clicks, views, favourites, and purchases to determine how well the listing will convert into a purchase or may be relevant to shoppers. Listings with higher engagement rates may appear in search results."

So we know favourites affect rank (of course they would) but Etsy's never signified how much. Logic dictates that if two listings both get clicked on but only one gets 'liked', that liked listing would be marginally ahead. However.... just because a listing has no/low likes, doesn't mean it'll sink. The smaller the searches targeted and the more listings you have to target it, the less you can worry about it.

All that said, OP I don't think you're using your energy well to get so mad about it. Throwing away all your work just to start a new shop is only going to hurt yourself; who's to say it won't happen again? Never mind the further 20c bits you'll have to spend, and any start-up fee Etsy will charge you and the risk of being suspended after the first sale. You have an established shop, don't wreck it.

Etsy doesn't care about us, at all - as you've likely concluded. We are just data to them. It's the weekend, they sometimes take a week to get back to you, then you'll probably have to tell them 'i still need help' for several emails before you get anywhere, and they may never deal with it. Nothing you can do but breathe out and move on.

it might be those that have loads of favourites, and don't convert, are pushed down the ranking, as "How well it will convert" is a negative. 

without the actual weighting information, it's impossible to tell if it's a good thing, or bad things, or if a mix of things is worse.
