Mix and Match feedback

Hurrah, a great idea!! I immediately went and applied it to many listings!

However, in practice...I sell prints in different sizes. The mix and match "add both to basket" option defaults to the lowest value option, in the smallest size.

This isn't great for the customer - they may think it only applies to the smallest size variation, and so it does not encourage larger orders (for example, of higher value bigger prints, where customers are really seeking these kinds of discounts), and indeed, I cannot find evidence to support the fact that it applies to anything except the lowest value variations.

If this is the case, then it's a great idea, very poorly executed to the point of being worthless as a tool. I would like it to apply to all my variations, larger and more expensive variations included, so customers actually can get value for money.

Can Etsy support please offer some insight and clarification to this? As always, I would message seller support, but there is no opportunity for a constructive conversation with any real feedback from that avenue.

Re: Mix and Match feedback

well, I'm going to disagree with you.

just because you are doing your products the way you are doesn't mean that everyone else is doing the same thing.

For me, it is brilliant.

for you, not.

You have several choices. I'm not sure that there will be an update to allow for 'size selection' but if so, that would benefit you. But you can create some individual listings (in fact, I personally prefer when people do, because the price defaults to the lowest value, and then I see that it is for a print that is smaller than a sheet of paper, but dang, they are showcasing one big enough to go over a sofa....)...

so, maybe a different setup for your listings would solve the issue? Good luck.

Re: Mix and Match feedback

I'm glad it works for you! I never suggested that "everyone is doing the same thing," and this comment seems oddly petty. Perhaps Etsy should make look to make it work for all sellers?

They allow for variations, and a huge number of sellers use this functions to provide better options for their customers (by which I mean the customers of the seller, who are also the customers of Etsy).

It is ludicrous to suggest that a seller offering more than one size of print should create multiple listings for each print. Take a minute to think about it. It would cause havoc with Etsy's search function. Customers don't usually search by print size - they search by what they want to hang on their wall and then figure out what size will best suit them once they have found a print they like.

As for your little comment about "one big enough to go over a sofa" - many of my customers are buying prints at that size and so this is what is helpful for them to see. In that regard, I am providing helpful visuals. I cannot control the fact that Etsy defaults to the lowest priced variation, but I do agree it isn't helpful.

Re: Mix and Match feedback

@BagmakerSupply  We are no longer required to show production partners to buyers. It is a seller option to show or not to show.  But Etsy knows who they are when a new listing is created once it is provided to them.

Re: Mix and Match feedback

This is exactly correct, and @BagmakerSupply, for what it's worth (although I think unsolicited advice without understanding the details of another sellers shop should be banned on this forum), I have these details completed in a way that Etsy can see. Customers are able to see from my reviews that the fulfilment is of the highest quality, and that I actively welcome all and any questions, if they are interested in any aspect of production (which usually, they aren't - they just want a great-quality print that speaks to them).

I would appreciate if further responses to this thread stay on-topic!

@SugarTaffySoap: Yes we know, but totally missed it at the bottom of the About section. Probably not enough coffee yet this morning.

Re: Mix and Match feedback

Thank you for posting this. I was considering using the feature for my prints that can be bought as a set. However, if it is only showing the smallest size, I'll pass for now and keep the sets as a separate listing even though, for those, Etsy considers that the first image is a "collage". I'd thought that using the mix and match would circumvent the collage thing - oh well.

Glad that I saw your post!

Re: Mix and Match feedback

I get what you are saying. I have several listings with variations. For instance, I make themed hair scrunchie trios. But sometimes, customers just want one style in the set. So I have each style in variations and one variation for the set. When I paired a scrunchie set up with one of my dance shoe bags, it doesn't give the customers an option to select which variation before adding the whole mix and match pair to the cart. (If you choose the "add both to cart" quick option).

I wanted to see how the customer would choose the correct variation this way, so I went to an incognito browser and did the "add both to cart" option. Then I went to my cart and boy, was it a lot of clicks. First of all, it will not allow a check out until variations are selected.  (NOT that I'm buying from my shop! Just a useful test).

So, here's what you have to do:  Once in your cart, a big yellow square pops up that says "edit item" Click on that, and it will take you to a pop up where you must select from the dropdown(s). Then hit save. Then do this for the other item(s). Once all dropdowns have been selected, and shipping method is selected, you can proceed to checkout.

I guess it works and it was the best Etsy could come up with in the short term (as they seem to ALWAYS roll out new tools half-baked.) However, it's clunky and confusing. If rushed holiday shoppers have to click that many times before checking out, they may abandon the purchase altogether. Hopefully Etsy streamlines it before November.

Re: Mix and Match feedback

I do like this part, though. If you try to remove one of the items from your cart later, Etsy reminds you:

"This item is part of a "buy together" offer from the seller. Removing it from your cart will cancel your 15% discount and these finds will return to their regular prices."

Re: Mix and Match feedback

I thought this might be the case!! Thank you for testing it, I had been travelling and was exhausted and didn't even think of doing incognito browser (and then went to sleep for 36 hours, ha).

However...this just isn't a solution, because it is too much tinkering around for shoppers, who either won't realise they can choose the size they want, or won't be willing to go through extra steps (and I'm speaking from my own experience as a shopper here). So this is really Etsy failing sellers and shoppers, you hate to see it!

Etsy - what are you going to do about this?

Re: Mix and Match feedback

I can't seem to find how to edit or delete the bundles. Anyone? I'm looking on the guide and don't se anything.

https://help.etsy.com/hc/en-us/articles/115014260108-How-to-Set-Up-Sales-and-Discounts-for-Your-Shop...

ps, I see this hasn't been rolled out to all shops since I only have access to it in my other shop.

Re: Mix and Match feedback

You can't edit, but some have said it's possible to delete by deactivating one or two items from the bundle which deletes it.

Re: Mix and Match feedback

I had to deactivate one of the listings to break the offer, then reactivate to redo the offer and add a 3rd item to the menage.

I'm liking this so for but as per usual, the workarounds to make it work...

Yes, that's what I said.

A pain, but better than not being able to delete/change at all.

Re: Mix and Match feedback

Sort of, but you can't deactivate within the process which is what I tried to do. You have to deactivate / reactivate the listing in listing manager.

You can't even get a list of the groupings you created like when you offer sales on select items.

Multi Discount Menu Option -Request

I like the option of creating multibuy products, would there be an option to either have those available to add to its own store category, either new or use one of the 20. Or could there be a link to all current multibuy offers in the dashboard, please?

I would like to see what i have on offer as a pack so that I can create different offers in the general sales and discounts that dont include these listings. The thought of trawling through to see whats on multibuy put me off.

Many thanks

You are speaking to other sellers here. I'm not even sure what you're asking for.

@PJBdesign

Etsy creates an “On Sale” shop category and puts all of those listings there. You can see it as the first shop section when viewing your shop as a shopper would.

It looks like Etsy has done exactly that, unfortunately it's in their usual haphazard style.

In shops that have sales going already, they have added these new group items into the ON SALE category at the top of the categories; in shops that don't have an ON SALE category already they have added it, which will be confusing to some buyers who will expect to see items on sale, with discount prices, not these buy-more-and-save promos.

Apparently typing at the same time as @Adorabilities ...

Regarding the buy together feature

How do I use the same listing over and over?  For example I have dozens of items that can go together.  I could sell a pet themed necklace and combine it with a pet name tag.  When I combine these two items the pet name tag listing goes grey and I can't use it on the next pet necklace.  How do I fix this?  Specifically, how do I combine my listing to "add a pet name charm" to all of my pet themed items?

You can’t use the same listing more than once using that feature

Well that defeats the whole purpose for my store. Back to adding compatible listing links in the descriptions that nobody can find to read.

You add a link in the description to the pet tag or the section of pet tags.
