Messages sent to Spam folder by Etsy's mistake affecting my star seller status

Hi there!

I was advised by Etsy support to write here, because they cannot provide solution to my case (?!). It's interesting to see how many of you face the same problem: some messages went to my spam folder and I discovered by accident that they were from regular customers, one of them was even from another Etsy seller. I replied with a delay because of this, but I tried to do the right thing.

Now, those messages count towards my response rate and - of course - I lost my star sellers badge for May because of this. Etsy support is not acting as such - they first assured me this is a known issue and the messages won't count agains me. Now they are repeating over and over again that they wanted to "reduce the noise in my inbox" and this was the reason for these mistakes.

I know that I should've marked the messages again as spam (unfortunately I learnt this too late). Nobody can actually check this? No way to solve this technical problem coming from Etsy?

I know that the phone support and live chat support folks tell you to post here for help but it's just us sellers here. The live chat and phone call back support people are just call center folks. They are very very limited in the issues they can help with and pretty much just repeat what's in the help center articles. Unfortunately the Help Center article says the same incorrect thing- to post here.

Here is the link https://help.etsy.com/hc/en-us/articles/4403058372503-How-to-Become-a-Star-Seller?segment=selling

it says "Etsy Support can’t make changes to your Star Seller data or manually award Star Seller badges. If you think your Star Seller score was calculated incorrectly, you can let us know in the Technical Issues forum."

But they changed this to a peer to peer support forum a few years ago so it's just us sellers here sadly. Occasionally an admin will pop in if there is a major issue going on but generally it's just us sellers. If you need more help from etsy support you will need to contact them again but this time use the email option. That is the only one that will get you to an actual etsy employee vs the call center folks.

Thank you so much for your reply! I'll probably just let it go - sending emails back and forth to get the same explanations sounds like a complete waste of my time. I already read 3 times how much they care about my inbox and why this has happened. I don't feel I need more of it.
