Anytime I go te refund a customer (as of today) I get a new tab called messenger underneath messages. It brings up a weird screen that shows all my unread messages and a tab that says "we're trying out some changes in messenger for admin" When I click leave feedback it wants me to log and says "you need access"
Just a bug or is anyone else getting it?

What bothers me more is that their technical department doesn't even let us know PRIOR to the experience of Messenger. WTH????
Mine shows the same & when I try to give feedback (to raise questions) it wants me to sign in to a Google account. I don't have a Google account & I don't have Messenger either. Isn't Messenger a Facebook/Meta thing?
I'm seeing two other Threads about this Message thing (going over to check mine shortly).
If you haven't seen it, there is a new Announcement at the top of the Forum re: changes to the SS Program. One of them has to do with "Bundling" multiple Messages from Buyers. Perhaps what's going on is a test or tinkering for this; and/or could be glitching. I don't know.

@TagTeams I got the same things. Why would it be asking me to sign into my Google account? I don't have one.

I have it and I don't want it. I was just packaging up a sale and "Messenger" showed up on my dashboard 7 new messages. WTH? But no. they were all old messages I hadn't trashed yet. Ugh.
Not only the concerns above ... What about my account showing the "orange dot" that I have 8 unread messages - including some random OLD ones - all of which are over and dealt with long ago - but now somehow showing (via orange dot) as "new" ... ?? With Star Seller, if you don't respond to new messages within 24 hours you are penalized. Am I supposed to go back and "answer" these long-finished messages to satisfy the bots of Star Seller?
I have the same concerns. I showed 7 unread (all old) messages so I emptied my Etsy message inbox and they still show up as an orange 7 dot in Messenger. Carp.
@CrazyBonesPineyCones I just popped over to see mine. Yep, it's pretty bad!
Right now, Etsy is making changes in this area as @ChillwolfArt explained. It's likely due to this and will be resolved soon.
What's positive is Etsy is trying to listen to sellers and working on the issue which I appreciate. So I'm going to be patient with this problem even though it is a frustration.

It just makes it hard to see any new messages now. What are they even thinking anymore. I don’t find this helpful at all

And what is with the banner at the top of THIS page saying now saying to me "Success!" ??? Is that just that my comment was posted? The over-enthusiam of the bots is stunning - especially when I don't think any real Etsy Support people are actually reading any of these negative (and worried) comments... just cheerleader bots.
Having so much anxiety with this new messenger thingy and tons of orange dots looks like my messages are all unread. 30 of them. I don't have time for this today! Ugh.
Sheesh! I had responded to all my messages. Went to make a cup of tea and came back to the dreaded orange dot showing 30 messages! All of them were responded to days/weeks ago. I haven't a clue what's going on now.

Well - I hope you are correct, because the feedback link they provided is broken, so if they ARE "trying" to "listen to sellers" they hopefully are looking to more than just their feedback link. AND in the meantime I sure hope the Star Seller Bots are all taking a vacation.
NancyQStudio- are you by any chance an Etsy Support person? I looked for the old "Bugs" link in "Community" before deciding to try this conversation - and didn't see "Bugs" as being available any more...
Don't have time for all this now - need to get to PO, but will check back later - hopefully to find it all resolved and an assurance that Star Seller reports are not being affected by this new glitch.
@CrazyBonesPineyCones No, I have zero affiliation with Etsy other than utilizing their site to run an Etsy shop. This is why I want Etsy support to improve. I need support when issues arise that I can't solve myself or via reading Seller Helpbook articles.
Is there any way to set up custom messages through this thing? I can't seem to figure it out. Also, none of my customers order history is loading either on the side. I would give feedback regarding bugs, but as we've seen, we can't even do that.
