I got a new message a few hours ago, but it was a message that I had sent to a buyer thanking them for the order and estimated shipping time. And the message I originally sent was on the 14th, not today. I am going to get dinged on star seller for not replying to this message, I feel if I reply to the message it won't make sense to the buyer. Has this happened to anyone else? I've been having some really strange things happen lately and doesn't seem that Etsy is there to help at all.

Yes. This happened to me. Order Confirmation I sent on 18 April reappeared as a new, first Message on 26 April. It is important to send this to Spam using the "Report" button as the CSS / SSP system IS counting these a FIRST, NEW Messages. Easier to "Report" than try to get Etsy Support to fix the problem.
Just an FYI. If some of the latest posts on this Thread seem out of place, that is because a New Thread opened today by @AdirondackKitchen (Order Update Messaging) was "zapped" without any comment and then merged into this one. I was commenting on the other Thread and my comment now appears here. This is the second time today a Thrread has just "disappeared" but the comments merged into another Thread. Very odd!
Can you mark it as spam?
@ClareyClayworks I believe using "Report" to mark as "Spam" is the only way to handle these Messages. I tried replying but it did not work as I was actually replying to myself. I moved the Messages to "Spam" and Etsy has just, 2 minutes ago, cleared my "Spam" folder.
@ClareyClayworks no, because we'd be marking our own messages as spam. We're getting our own messages marked as new messages from the buyer.
@cindylouwho2 I posted just before you. Is your experience different to mine?
@CarpetCollectionAU My Messages csv hasn't updated yet, so I cannot be sure if these would count against us or not. Until then, I am definitely not marking my own messages as spam LOL
(I replied, since the Message showed up as new. It's going to look like you are replying to yourself as there is no buyer message, but there is no way to know how it will be counted)
@cindylouwho2 My CSV did show the messages "from me to me" as "No" even though I did reply with a . (dot). Is the "risk" of marking as "Spam" that you will be blocked from sending messages to yourself? Which is something you cannot do anyway. I am confused LOL
@CarpetCollectionAU while "Spam" doesn't seem to do much most of the time, it sometimes can get accounts in trouble. Not risking it.
@cindylouwho2 OK. Thanks! I have had no response to my Support Report and no Etsy Rep has seemed to acknowledge that this issue is being looked into so I suppose we are all "in the dark" playing a "waiting game" to see what happens next?
@CarpetCollectionAU I am hoping now that admin combined the threads that someone higher up will take a look at this.
Frustrating that it can take several days for anyone at Etsy to take bugs reports seriously.
if you download the csv of your message replies does it show the message? is it marked as replied to late?
So far over the past 3 days I've received 9 of these boomerang messages. I've not done anything but open them. I see no need to reply to myself or to mark myself as spam. There does not seem to be any correlation to them. Some are over 3 weeks old and long delivered, some are in transit. There is no common denominator that I can figure out. Not the same email provider, not in the same state. Not ordered on the same day or shipped on the same day or delivered on the same day. No commonality at all. If there is, I'm tired of trying to figure it out.
As of 2311, which is after the "next day" starts for my time zone (mountain) my message response rate is still at 100%
But it's really irritating to sift through my old messages slipping into my inbox mingling about with actual real messages coming in.

I just had this happen to me too. A message I sent to a customer 10 days ago came back. I don't even know if she got got it or not but she gave me a good review! Any answers to this issue yet?

I too am getting the whole bounce back messages! What is going on? I have star seller rating too. Plus my live chat stop working on April 2nd when I was chatting with them about a technical problem. I sent them a screen shot of the technical problem and my live chat not longer works. I reset cookies and tried multiple options. Even posted on the live forum today and no longer see it listed.

I am getting the same thing happening to me. Plus my live chat does not work. I was talking to live chat April 2 and gave them a screen shot of my technical problem and then they went dark.
