I got two messages from a buyer and I answered one but did not the other because they were the exact same message.
Can I get that duplicate not counted because it has dropped my score and now I am going to lose my star seller badge.
You can put the duplicate message in your spam folder and in a few days, it will change your score back. Always check in your Etsy messages to see if there is a banner saying a message is a first message. If so, reply to it even if you have to say the same thing. The email you get will not let you know that it needs a reply. Check on Etsy.
If one was a regular message and one was a help request, it will depend on which one you answered (theoretically this is the only way you should have received 2 message threads, otherwise they're supposed to be combined).
If you answered the help request, then you can just mark the other one as spam. It could take a couple days, but the missed message should fall off your metrics.
If you answered the regular message but not the help request, then there isn't anything you can do. Those types of messages are not allowed to be sent to spam (because they're help requests specific to an order) and require a response within 24 hours.
When I have received these 2 of the same messages before, usually it's because they'll send me a message then I think Etsy prompts them to send a help request, so I'll get the 2nd one right after the other. I usually respond to the first one, then respond to the second one saying 'see my response in the other message thread', or something like that.
I am super responsive so I have no idea why Etsy is claiming I have an 80% response rate. It claims I responded to 4 messages within 24 hours and one after 24 hours. I would like to see this message!
You can check which one it is by going to your star seller page and clicking on the little link in the top right that says "Download message and order history."
Yes, they will show you exactly which message they are saying you didn't respond to, just need to look at the file.
