My Message Seller says "Typically responds within a MONTH" for over a year, despite being Star Seller for 6 months or so.
I have tried everything to get this fixed with Etsy. Live Chats, phone calls, emails, Forum posts, and each time I have to go through the same thing and I'm told the same thing:
"The status will update itself. Keep responding quickly and eventually it will change itself"
Should that take a year? or more (I think it's been more than a year) It's been over a year now and it hasn't changed. I was just on the Live Chat with "Emilie" who promises she will "share my concerns with the right team to fix this problem".
This is a legitimate bug that needs to be fixed. I wonder how many customers decide not to contact me because they don't think they will get a response from me for a month?
PLEASE FIX IT ETSY!! I know I'm not the only one with this problem!

Wow! That's ridiculous. I'm sorry I have no idea. Would you like me to message you so you can respond and see if that helps?
That'd be great! I'm trying to figure out how many emails it would actually take to get back up to 100 percent
The math just doesn't work!
How many total messages do you have, and how many are on time? It's just the number of on-time messages divided by the number of total messages.
You need it to equal at least 95%.
So, for example, 19 on-time messages divided by 20 total messages is 95% -- a passing score.
Okay, I have messaged your shop. Be sure to reply.
@btaylorquilts - The bad news is that the "replies in a Month" glitch is probably not going to get corrected anytime soon.
Since your Star Seller stats are correct, yes, you'd think that Etsy blurb would be updated. Odds are it will not be.
There are a number of shop owners who had tried contacting Etsy about this exact topic years ago - maybe some of them will see this thread, post about the problem & provide an update on any progress made in their shop.
Thanks for responding. I was one of those posting about it back in September 2021!
Going through it again. Figure it's been a year, maybe someone can fix it finally.
Unfortunately that didn't fix it. As you say 'wondering how many emails it would take'?? What do your start seller metrics say for message response rate? It must be over 95% right?
The "responds in a month" thing has been there for a few years now. Not likely to update I guess!
Done! We'll see what happens!
Thank you so much for helping with my research project!
That is more a coding issue I suspect and no amount of messages answered will fix that.
It would seem so. It's been over a year!
it's bad, sorry (very sad face)
@btaylorquilts : Not how many eMails but how many new message threads. The Star Seller metric is based on replying to the FIRST message of a NEW thread.
Yes, I'm aware. And now they lump one person's emails into the last thread, which is a little difficult to deal with for me, but it won't count as new anymore from a previous customer. The problem is some customer's email threads can be 40 to 50 emails between us working out details for a custom order. I have many repeat customers so we are looking a threads with 80 to 100 emails for me to sort through if I need to look back for notes. Good times!
Until they get it fixed add a blurb to your shop announcement telling folk that you reply right away, not in a month.
Probably a good idea! I set up automated responses to go out in an hour to folks saying just that. However, I usually respond before the hour is up!
Thanks for the suggestion!
I went to PaperFramer's shop and a listing, and I noticed a difference too.
His has it on the listing pg, below the Message link, yours does not. So this is also an added oddity.
And you didn't buy anything? Where are the emojis when we need them.
haha! I think you don't ship to Canada if I recall.
When I go to your home shop page under the envelop I see, "Speedy replies, Has a history of replying to messages quickly."
If you go to one of my item pages, then scroll down to where you see the "Message Briana" ... Click on that, then see at the top of the box under my shop name. That's where it's showing
Mine says within a few days, for 20 months now. It's a remnant of them accidentally counting things you marked as spam. It's definitely not updating, as I have only missed 1 message in those 20 months since it changed from within 4 hours in Jan. 2021.
They do not care; I've opened multiple tickets and they just tell me it is automated. They take no responsibility for the sales I have lost over this.
