I got an automated message from a shop when I made a purchase from them. The star seller stats is now counting it as a message I haven’t responded to within 24hours even though it wasn’t a message directed at my shop. I didn’t think messages about purchases I made would count towards my shops messages. Is there a way for me to fix the stats so I don’t lose my star seller badge due to a misunderstanding?
Etsy doesn't know what the message is about. The program clearly states you need to respond to all messages, both from buyers and sellers.

Sigh.......No, there's no way to fix this unless you mark as spam (which may or may not work) and to read the rules on how the SS badge works.
Just the first message in the thread counts, not the ongoing convo.
Messages that you mark as spam don’t count.
Set up an auto-reply when you’re unavailable. It counts as a reply.
From the help pages:
The Message response rate only applies to the first message in a thread. Initial messages from both buyers and sellers on Etsy are counted towards the Message response rate.
