Not sure if anyone else is seeing this.
When I check my listings, they have a "expires on xxx" and have set everything to manually renew.
The other week I thought some had renewed without my input, but was very busy so could not be sure if I had actually done so at stupid o clock in the morning, so did not think anything off it.
Anyway, checking the listings this morning, just to make sure, they are set to manually renew. I noticed that despite the "expire on xxx" all listings (when clicking into the listings page) show
Manual
Expires on Dec 4, 2025
On everything, no matter which "expire date" shows on the overall listing page of my shop
@CryzalisMasksUK @TheVintagePineapple @DollHeaven : The listings page (when in <Edit> mode) shows what the "new" expiration date will be if you were to renew the listing at that moment, not what the current expiration date is.
Same for me, listings on manual that are set to expire within the next 2 weeks also have December 4th as an expiration date.
No idea why this date is so popular, but I did notice the same expiration date showing on the listings I was editing a couple of months ago. I don't remember if it was Dec 4th tho, just that they all had the same manual/exp date. But so far, everything that was due to expire during the last few weeks, did expire on the correct date and were not auto renewed.
I've stopped trying to figure out some things around here. But now I'm curious if we check tomorrow, will the exp date change to the Dec 5th? Two days from now, will it show Dec 6th and so forth and so on and what have you.
Interesting. I have a listing due to expire on Aug. 8 and just went and checked it and it also shows Dec. 4th as the expiry date. I will have to do as @TheVintagePineapple suggests and check back tomorrow to see if the date has changed. I have also noticed that I don't have the 'listings due to expire this week' notification on my dashboard which is a pity as I did find it a useful reminder.
I will check to tomorrow and if it says the 5th Dec, then it will be ignored like all the other mathematically incorrect glitches on here
Ignorance is bliss...
and a little knowledge wouldn't help anyway.

Thanks @BagmakerSupply
in all these years never noticed that
Same here. Items on manually renew suddenly renew automatically. Which is annoying because sometimes I manufacture them no longer and thereby get wrong stock data for my shop and it costs money. I have no idea to whom to tun to at Etsy to clear this technical problem.
@Friesenherz It's simple. To prevent a listing from going to automatic, checkmark the listings, go into editing options. Drop down and select Change renewal options.
I do that periodically to make sure items stay on manual.
When creating a listing now it is set to automatic. If the listing is removed and later activated again, it is set to automatic.
Just something to watch out for,
Thank You for the Heads Up. Every now and then, I go through my listings and bulk edit to Manual Renewal. I did it not long ago, but this is a good reminder to do it again.
The majority of my shop is set to expire today; we are talking 100's of listings including listings that were recently listed. I reached out to Etsy and got nowhere.
