I had four local orders that I marker complete and where the tracking information input box is I noted "This Item has no tracking umber" which brings up a window with "Local pick-up/delivery" or the like and I indicated this to complete the order. Well - I noticed that my 100% on time shipping had gone down to 95% and when I downloaded the report it should these four local orders as "no tracking number" and counting against my statistics.
I used the chat to review with support, and while the agent recognized everything having been input correctly stated that ETSY staff is unable to correct any of the STAR seller information. How can this be if there is a technical glitch that "punishes" the seller???
Hello, and welcome to the Etsy Community Forums!
We suggest using the Forums' Search function prior to posting (just be careful to not bump an old thread that hasn't seen any activity in the last months/years), as questions regarding the Star Seller Program have been extensively covered by our fellow members since its launch, as well as our official Star Seller Guide, which contains in-depth answers to some of the more common questions regarding Message Response Rate, Shipping, Local Pick-Up, Digital Orders, and other topics. You can check it out here:etsy.com/starseller.
Having said that, and since this thread does not pertain to a technical issue, it will be closed to prevent it from going off-topic.
Thank you!

yep - same has happened to me.
I have read that some sellers handled this by sending the buyer a receipt by mail - that way you have an inexpensive mail option and a tracking # for the order.
This isn't a technical glitch. While you can mark an order complete with local pickup, that doesn't qualify for Star Seller. You must having a tracking number on the completed order to be eligible for Star Seller. The tech support should know that.
Just saw that - truly an issue with the Star System. There could be a software fix to that and if there is a concern about sellers cheating with this feature, maybe ETSY could send a verification e-mail to the buyer when the option of delivery/pick-up is used and then create an input to the tracking field.
As you are in the USA all orders must have tracking for Star Seller metric
The "local pick-up" option is only effective for the "streamlined shipping" metric that Etsy introduced at more or less the same time as Star Seller

@StainedGlassByTGH Hello, you posted in Technical Issues, but it's not one and you're not being "punished" although many sellers feel they are. Adding tracking to all physical orders is one of the criteria for Star Seller if you’re in the US. If you mark an order as complete without adding tracking, it does not meet the requirement for Star Seller.
An Etsy Community Specialist has posted the following in many SS threads and closed out the threads > "We suggest using the Forums' Search function prior to posting (just be careful to not bump an old thread that hasn't seen any activity in the last months/years), as questions regarding the Star Seller Program have been extensively covered by our fellow members since its launch, as well as our official Star Seller Guide, which contains in-depth answers to some of the more common questions regarding Message Response Rate, Shipping, Local Pick-Up, Digital Orders, and other topics. Good luck with your business.
Dear SugarTaffySoap - I appreciate you raking the time to respond, but no need to lecture. I posted this as a technical issue as I did mark the item complete, note it as a local pick-up/delivery and it gave the option to note that there is no tracking (due to it not being “mailed”. In my mind this was/is a glitch in the system as it then later “dings” in Star Seller statistics. this was not a case of me missing to enter the tracking number.
Anyway, I have since learned that it is ETSY Star Seller “policy” that local deliveries/pick-ups will not count as delivered on time. It does not seem logical to me, but it is what it is.
wishing you continued success with your soap business!
Two days ago shipped two orders in one box at customers request, so both orders had the some tracking number. Now etsy says I have missing tracking number. Does any thing ever work right on etsy?
If you added the tracking number to both, then yes, this is a technical issue.
The OP's issue is not. In his case, Star Seller is working exactly as promised.
I would have to say it is a technical issue. That I have to pay for
@MississippiSpoon: We combine multiple orders into a single shipment all the time and up to now have not had any issues. Have you checked to make sure that the shipped date, tracking number and shipping company show correctly on both of the actual orders?
Yes this the first time I had issues
They must have fix the problem. Back to 100% the morning
I hand delivered an order to a customer, marked it as such, and because there was no tracking number was also penalized. As a star seller since the inception of the program I was angry that the system operated this way and reported it to Customer Service, who, after telling me there was no current fix for this problem, added, “Well, not everyone can be a star seller.” I couldn't believe it!!!
@PikakePress: Probably almost everyone on this forum can sympathize with you but there are innumerable threads about your exact issue. If you have not yet done so, you might want to read https://help.etsy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360000338067-How-to-Offer-Local-Pickup-or-Delivery?segment=s...
Will local pickup orders be part of my evaluation for a Star Seller badge?
All physical listing orders must include a valid tracking number or a shipping label purchased on Etsy to be considered for a Star Seller badge. At this time, we’re unable to make exceptions for local pickup orders.
This also applies to delivery orders.
This is crazy! Are you supposed to lose your Star Seller because a neighbor brought something from your site, and you hand delivered it? In my opinion, a hand delivered item should be neutral. It shouldn’t count for or against SS!
@StainedGlassByTGH Just wanted to give you helpful info, seller to seller, not "lecturing". Aside from that, you marked the solution as a technical issue so when sellers come to the forums and read your post then click "Jump To Solution" the seller will think it's a glitch which you now know is not. In my opion, giving out wrong solutions is not what the forums are for.
@Redpeonycreations: I doubt anyone will argue with you about how things should be, but we have to live with how they are. Unfortunately we are probably paying the price for the bad sellers who when they could not ship an order would mark it as hand delivered and then Etsy would have to deal with the buyer.
