All my 2000+ listings have been set to the same renew date. This happened 4 days ago and created negative balance in my payment account. I have not been able to get anyone in Etsy to respond.
They all auto-renewed on the same day? Were they all set to auto-renew?
No, they were listing posted over several years and have never renewed at the same time. I have has a shop for over 5 years and never had this happen.
I can’t get any help from Etsy support, technical otherwise. I have trying to get help for 4 days.
There is a known glitch where listings are not expiring the way they should. In fact, they can go years without expiring. Several people have stated that when Etsy finally discovers it for their shop they charge all the back listing fees at once, and change the renewal dates for the impacted listings to figure from the day it was discovered.
Totally messes up people's finances, and all the work they did to spread their listings out for staggered renewals and traffic.
Once again, your friendly neighborhood Etsy screwing sellers royally. It is their mistake, it should be their loss. Sellers need to complain big time.
This glitch is so widespread and has been going on so long even when sellers notify Etsy about it, that some have thought maybe this was Esty moving gradually to no more listing fees. Since many sites no longer charge listing fees, that would be the proper thing for Etsy to do.
The sites that don't charge listing fees charge monthly subscription fees.
I kind of prefer the listing fees.
I don't know about all of them, but listing is free on Ebay, up to 250 listings per month. After that you either pay a listing fee or set up a store subscription.
It makes sense for sites to not charge listing fees. The more items listed, the more the site earns in commissions.
