Shopping cart disappears when I remove an item

In the past I could easily remove items from my shopping cart. I would place 10 or 20 or 50 items in my cart, to compare things, and then narrow down my order by removing items. But in the past couple of weeks, when I remove an item the shopping cart disappears and I have to update the page, and the whole process takes forever. I have 80 items of jewellery supplies in my cart right now, trying to narrow it down to 40. It's going to take me days to place my order this way, so that's 40 items I will have to buy off etsy if I can't find a way to work around it.

Any ideas?

@marieflyfly - Well, I've never had that many items in my cart at once! Maybe it's suffering from overload, lol.

Seriously though, are you using the app? Etsy's apps can be glitchy. I always use my laptop with a browser. Maybe try that & see if things move better?

No, not using the app - this is with my laptop. I tried a different browser, but that didn't help.

Couldn't you just heart/fav them? Then they would show up in your favourite's list.

My shopping cart does this, too, on Safari and Chrome browsers and it drives me bonkers. I don't have anything helpful to offer as a workaround or solution, but wanted you to know that it's not just you!

Huge hassle when I'm comparison shopping fabrics. Favoriting instead isn't a good workaround for me, because I need the cart total and/or to have things grouped by seller.

It’s been doing this for me too for months. I’ve discovered that if you do it through the app instead it doesn’t happen.  It’s a bit slow, but it’s a workaround.

Yes, I found out after I posted here, that the app doesn't do this. So I ended up deleting items through the app while using my laptop for visual supprt. It was definitely a bit better, but still a bit of a hassle!

I shop the same way…put everything in my cart first, then narrow it down to what I absolutely need for my projects, and mine has been doing the very same thing.  Very frustrating!

I think it's a "feature not a bug."

Meaning I think they intentionally drop us into the "Saved for Later" category so that we'll add those things to our cart.

I agree it's super annoying and makes it very hard to do the normal flow of adding things and then narrowing them down (Favorites is always an option... but for whatever reason I've always been the "add to cart" kind of person for things I'm seriously considering buying)

I am glad it isn't just me. I was beginning to think my laptop was the issue. Support couldn't offer me much help. I will have to use my app as a visual like you are now doing. It is extremely frustrating when trying to shop for supplies!

This is happening to me as well! And you can't even post a bug/glitch for it... the only support issues Etsy has is for actual purchases. Super annoying. I shop the same way because I want to see who has a better deal if i buy multiple items from a vendor (if they offer a discount or free shipping after a certain amount is spent)>

It's worse than annoying. I expect they think we'll just buy more items -- instead, it makes me want to go to Amazon or Ebay for my purchases instead. I'll shop less.

It's a stupid way to do business -- I had been considering coming back to Etsy for my sales, but not if they can't get their act together. It's the way little middle school girls would set it up. "Hey, check this out. If they can only delete one item at a time, and we make it super hard to delete, they'll just give up and buy them all. I'm a genius!!!"

This is beyond frustrating to me, it takes me so long to place an order for supplies. I can't believe that there isn't a solution! As someone else mentioned it makes me want to take my business elsewhere!

Amen -- I haven't bought anything from Etsy for months because if it's difficult, why bother. I don't have that problem with Ebay, Amazon, Temu, Walmart.com -- no other retailer or wholesaler makes it difficult.

And I don't want to use the app and see everything on a phone when I can view it all better on an iMac.

I am having the same issue. SO frustrating! The shop I am removing items from disappears from the page and I have to reload it, which takes ages. If this is intentional I really don't get it because it makes buying much more difficult.
