Listing deactivated after it sold

I just sold a listing...a paperclip bookmark with freshwater pearls and crystals and a pen nib charm that I made. I have several in stock. Instead of relisting it, it was deactivated. If Etsy deactivated it, would they contact me? I didn't receive a message or email. I want to relist it, but if Etsy deactivated it, I don't want to get in trouble.

Any comments would be appreciated.

@DoozleDesigns  Any chance you used the word "amber" - for the color of the crystals, perhaps?

The AmberBot is indiscriminate - yesterday, there was a post of a custom order being deactivated because the customer's name it was reserved for was "Amber" !

Too funny. No, I didn't use any trigger words like "amber"...unless freshwater pearls, crystals and pen nib charms have suddenly become a no-no on the descriptions.

Or ivory - even as a color descriptor?

Re: Listing deactivated after it sold

If Etsy deactived you should see a note on the listing that says "deactivated by Etsy". That being said, and knowing that reaching anyone at Etsy is a challenge, maybe try to open a ticket.

Re: Listing deactivated after it sold

Is it deactivated with a red banner?  Or did the listing need quantity relisted?  Any chance you maybe have received an IP infringement notice?  Can't think of any other reason.  Maybe a glitch?

Re: Listing deactivated after it sold

Do not relist it. If its approved to relist, the Integrity Dept will reactivate it for you after they determine it was an error. (If it is an error). You must have received an email, check your spam. Also...Did you review everything in the title and listing description for any type of prohibited word(s)? In the meantime, you can put a ticket in with chat support. Dashboard > Community & Help > Contact Us >Selling on Etsy >Manage Listings, if none of those topics apply (or read about deactivation), go to the bottom and click  "I Still Need Help".

Hope this helps. Good luck.

Re: Listing deactivated after it sold

The only reason that I found out that it was deactivated was because I wanted to look at the picture and it said the item wasn't available. I knew that the other item I sold in the same order showed sold out, but this listing didn't show sold out so I checked it in the listings and it showed up in the deactivated section even though there were 2 more available. It doesn't say that Etsy deactivated it. I checked emails and my spam and there wasn't an email from Etsy. There isn't any kind of infringement, I'm just using pearls, crystals and a charm that looks just like a pen nib so I can't imagine that anyone could have any kind of exclusivity on the charm.

I appreciate all of the comments!

Re: Listing deactivated after it sold

Could the word "nib" or any other word you used have a "double-meaning"? That somehow, in some way, it was considered offensive?

Okay, probably just grasping at straws here. But recently Etsy has been deactivating items in what seems to be "willy nilly" fashion. Some listings were for supplies. And something like this - a deactivation - should make sense?  Right?

Re: Listing deactivated after it sold

It's weird, but that was the first thing I thought of. I looked it up in the dictionary and there was nothing interesting there, but I just looked it up in the slang dictionary and it means, "Newly Initiated Brother." Maybe that's what got it deactivated, but shouldn't it show Etsy deactivated it?

Re: Listing deactivated after it sold

Check the shipping section has all the required info, including zip code.

Etsy will not auto renew sold when this info is missing. This was announced last year.

Re: Listing deactivated after it sold

I checked the postage earlier and it has the same shipping profile as all of my other items in that section.

Re: Listing deactivated after it sold

@DoozleDesigns - I honestly don't know if shop owners are receiving emails on all of the deactivations or if it's a hit or miss proposition. They may just suddenly find that a listing as "poofed".

And when you realize that the emails Etsy sends are generic to being with, they are leaving a lot of people puzzled.

I hate to say contact Etsy & try and get an explanation, but that might be the best thing to do.

They won't renew for this, but they don't de-activate for it either.

I sent a help request about an hour ago. I was just hoping to have an answer before the 2-3 days it will take them to get back to me.
Thanks to everyone for all of your help!!

Re: Listing deactivated after it sold

Have you considered your account has been broken into?  Someone else is getting at your listings to cause mischief?  If that is the case change your password for your email and then for Etsy.  Then check your payment settings to make sure all your money is going to your bank account.

Go ahead and relist the item since there is no indication that Etsy put it there.  Make sure all quantities are reset as well.

Will it let you "Renew" the deactivated listing?

Re: Listing deactivated after it sold

I assume you checked for an email from Etsy (even in the junk mail folder)? It might be worth you giving us the title and tags so we can check its not an IP take down.

Sound like a bot deactivation - My guess is that after it sold, it was relisted (as qty available was more than one) but then a bot deactivated it. I can't figure out what may have triggered it but it's possible it was by accident (this does happen).

You'll probably need to contact Etsy Support and give them the listing number so they can figure it out.

P.s. I see you use the initials 'TN' a lot in your listings. What does that mean?

Re: Listing deactivated after it sold

@Amaradorn  TN = travellers notebook.

It's a style of journal.

@CappuccinoLace thanks, could that be trademarked somehow? Sounds pretty generic to me. Just wondering.

Re: Listing deactivated after it sold

I couldn't find any copyright on it Amazon ad says they have 2000 traveler's notebooks.

Many other companies are also advertising using the same two words. I would have wondered what "Tennessee" had to do with it.

Re: Listing deactivated after it sold

The TN is confusing to people that don't use traveler's notebooks, but to those that do, they often don't want to take the time to type it out...so I use the abbreviation.

Etsy was very helpful. No one has any idea why it was deactivated, but they told me to relist it and it worked!
