Once again most of my listings have defaulted to Automatic renewal. I always set them to manual so that I can review each listing when it expires. As this coincides with the loss of the old listing form, (may it RIP, it will be greatly missed), the new form is probably the cause and I would suggest that everyone checks their own renewal option.

Auto-renew has been the default option for a long time.
You had to check Manual each time you renewed
It is a good idea to check every now and again to make sure you haven't missed selecting Manual renew -- you can do a mass edit of renewal option from the Listings page on your dashboard
If you have selected "manual" on a previously sold/renewed listing, it should never change to "auto-renew"
It did the same thing with the old form.
If the listing expires, you have to re-check Manual when you renew it. If you renew it before it expires, the previous Manual check holds.
@EightMileVintage I always renew manually before expiration, and today, after reopening from a 4 days vacation mode, I found about 10 listings had been switched to automatic renewal. They are old listings (not the new listing form) which I have renewed manually several times already. They were not close to the expiration date either. Weird !
@LePourquoiDuComment It's never happened to me but I've heard lots of other sellers say this happened to their listings. Periodically, I use the bulk edit function to make sure every item in my shop is set to manual renewal.
Even if you LOOK at your listing in edit mode and make no changes, it reverts to auto renew. as that is the default. I just roll with auto and set things I want to expire to manual.
I have this every time I renew an item. It's now just part of my process that I move that check box to manual as habit. Every once in awhile, I catch one I miss which is annoying. I should set up a recurring task like I've had to go to in making sure that Etsy hasn't changed my "ship day preferences" - something I go check every Monday.
I read somewhere that if you have a quantity greater than 1 Etsy will switch from manual renewal to auto renew. I am not sure if that is the only way because I just noticed that the majority of my listings had been switched to auto renewal, I always select manual
