I'm stunned that my 100% shipping was knocked down to 99% all because an order came in late in the evening - was a custom order that needed clairfication from the buyer - and shipped right away. Yes, I could have done a shipping label while I waited for a response from the customer, but I am honest and knew it most likely would not ship the very next day. Had the order come in 3-4 hours later, it would have shipped "on time". Now it's going to take 3 months to get back up to 100%.
Next time extend the shipping date
You only need 95% for Shipping On Time with Tracking for SSP metric. It is not printing the label which counts, it is when the first scan shows the parcel has actually been placed in the postal system.
Etsy uses UTC time for the SSP CSV and, depending on where you are located in relation to this, sometimes a few hours do move something into the next day.
It looks like you have 1-2 Day Shipping. Why not set this to 1-3 to give you a bit of a "buffer" in future?
@BagmakerSupply I, too, have seen this and never understood the differrence. I wonder if the Buyer's time zone has something to do with the calculation?
Apologies - nested incorrectly
I changed it 1-2 day yesterday after realizing that I got penalized for not shipping in 1 day - I know I should not be upset at 99% but I strive hard to keep at 100% and typically ship same day (if received by 3:00 east coast time). It was a situation where I had to wait on the customer to answer a question.
@EarthBoundBotanics: We often experience issues with *incorrect* ship by dates, almost always late in the day weekend orders. We recently had an order at 10:59 (Chicago time) that had a scheduled ship by on Tuesday and an 11:01 order the same evening that had a scheduled ship by of Monday. While we understand that time zone differences cause issues, clearly the algorithm for setting ship by dates is coded incorrectly. As mentioned, all you can do is immediately update the ship by date when you see this.
Thank you! I went in and actually changed all of mine to ship a day later even though I typically ship same day (if before 3:00pm east coast time). It's crazy and I know I shouldn't be concerned about a 99% rate but dang it - I work hard to keep 100% (OCD issues!)
Have a wonderful day and rest of the week!
