Item Descriptions moved again
I was told to start a new discussion because this matter was closed, but evidently it isn't fixed. Having the same issue again. Not sure how etsy thinks the customer should have to hunt to find the details tab now. All info used to be available right next to the pics. Riduculous.

They are still testing. Not everyone sees what you see.

Re: Item Descriptions moved again
The info isn't missing or hidden. Everything is still there just nothing visible, unless you clicked on "item details" and then again for more information.
Etsy needs to add a drop down arrow so buyers will know where to click to read more details.
Same for shipping.

Re: Item Descriptions moved again
I'm in this test as of today (although I have seen it in the past as well). "Item Details" is on the Left (under photo). To the far Right of this is a drop down arrow. Clicking it shows the Description. Even if I don't click the arrow, clicking onto "Item Details" show it. As a Buyer, I prefer having important information available to me, without using extra clicks to view it.

Re: Item Descriptions moved again
When I have customers messaging me asking where item details are, and it takes me 5 minutes to find it myself, I consider that hidden. You literally see nothing unless you know where to look and click to view the details...and not even one click reveals the entire description, you have to click twice. There is a drop down arrow, and it does not help solve the issue. It's ridiculous. All that white space open to the right?? What's all that open space for now? I bet it's so they can start rolling out more advertising within our listings. It makes absolutely no sense otherwise to have all that open, unused white space, and hide item description details beneath the photos. If they want to move the descriptions, fine. But then show them in full, without needing to make unnecessary clicks to see or find the information.

Re: Item Descriptions moved again
You and me both. I'm tired of these unexpected challenges as a Seller. They don't even warn us when they are planning to do these things, they just let our customers "inform" us, or rather allow us to lose business because of it. This is why I have my own website now as well, because Etsy has become too volatile and unpredictable. I'm tired of them using my business in their "experiments".

Re: Item Descriptions moved again
Okay, so how is this still a "thing"??? I just had a customer message me and ask me where the details were on a listing again. So I go and look, and wouldn't you know? It's literally being HIDDEN again under the item's photos??? Like WHY??? And now, you don't even get a small excerpt of the details, it's just plain HIDDEN from view. Who ever thought this was a good idea? I remember they did this a few months ago, and then reverted back because it is NOT a good move to hide item details like this!! Why do I feel, like as a Seller, I'm constantly having to fight for what makes sense??? Who in the world keeps making these decisions and literally playing with our businesses like this?? Why would ANYONE hide an item's pertinent details from customers? Will we have to pay some "premium fee" to have our item details put where people see and find them?? What purpose, other than to upset Sellers and confuse shoppers, does this serve??

Re: Item Descriptions moved again
Why does Etsy insists on making bad choices? Most important are photos and description and both should be clearly visible. Because of another change, you can't see available Quantity of an item, unless you add an item to your cart and adjust over there.
Etsy is overthinking it, and constantly trying to fix what does not need to be fixed. It's extremely frustrating.

Re: Item Descriptions moved again
I'm not sure where best to declare, but having Item Details, aka the main description hidden by default is a terrible idea. Once again Etsy does major changes that almost no sellers asked for....

Re: Item Descriptions moved again
This is why I think it's important not to solely depend on Etsy for sales or building your business. They can quite literally flip a switch overnight and make any change they want and they know it. I have a love/hate with Etsy, but I started my own website months ago because of all these issues, and I literally am constantly paranoid as to what to expect from one day to the next. Hiding item descriptions takes away the VALUE of paying for a listing. We are paying for this space, to list our items, and this is infringing on that paid service greatly. If they want to move the description under the image photos, fine. But don't hide it, or require 2 clicks to view the details. It's a MAJOR deterrent. And the fact that this is not being done to ALL shops really annoys me, because this feels like certain shops are being purposely hurt, while others aren't.

@VirgosAlchemy: "And the fact that this is not being done to ALL shops ..." Etsy test are run against viewing accounts not shops so some people still see the "normal" layout. What we do not know is what percentage of accounts is in the test.

Re: Item Descriptions moved again
@BagmakerSupply
Yes, I'm aware its a test, and I'm very familiar with how these work on Etsy. They did this same exact "test" a few months ago, I even did a YouTube video about it. Shortly, they put it back because no one liked it and there were tons of complaints...just like there is now. I'm tired of being part of their little "tests". I did not sign my business up to be part of their test, nor did I agree to have my customers confused and reaching out to me for answers either. The fact that not all shops have to deal with this, is clearly a selective group on certain servers. They are running these tests to see what the reaction is, so yes, it's against certain shops or else the "test" would be global. They could do mock tests on a sandbox server otherwise, and not LIVE shops. My background is in web development, and this is not how you test something like this, out of the blue with zero warning, no way to opt out, and with no regard as to how it will affect the end user. It's ridiculous.

What also bugs me quite a bit is the GIANT BLANK WHITE SPACE under the title...how ridiculous can you get with display appearance!!!
