Okay, so I normally don't have the need to send messages with questions on a listing but did send one about 30 minutes ago. Just now I went back into my messages, the sent box, to check to be sure I didn't forget anything.
I see my message and the listing link I had the question on. Then to the right of the message box I see the User Name and Shop Name I sent the message to. Below that is the sentence "This buyer hasn't messaged you before". Then I see "Private Note +", next is "Labels, No labels added".
Maybe this is all the new messaging system but why would I see the notation that "This buyer hasn't messaged you before"?
If this is normal, my apologies for not sending enough messages, lol.
I have not seen this--Etsy does seem to be messing with messaging today per some posts in the forum. A lot of people have to use CHAPCHA to send messages. Mine seems to be operating normally so my guess is these are tests Etsy is running.
@ThePurplePuppy - Thank you for the reply. I noticed the Captcha thread & then when I saw the notation on my sent message, which was basically pertinent information the receiver (the seller) needs to know, I got to wondering.
I recently made a purchase, but didn't Message the Seller. But I think what you're describing is new. Either that or I can't recall it happening before.
@ChillwolfArt - I don't ever remember seeing that either, though of course the last message I sent a shop, me being the buyer, was probably a year ago.
But I'm having other problems and may end up starting a thread on the problem. But it's a doozy so I can't post now. I've already had my evening glass of wine & like @timelapse chocolate is in my near future!
I wish that just for one day, one measly little day, they could leave their hands off everything and let the site run!!
Is it too much to ask for one day without more new glitches? (don't answer that, I know it will never happen!)
I wonder how the higher ups would like it if someone came to their work every single day and rearranged everything... their equipment, their desks, their manuals, etc........??
I have had a rough day. Time for chocolate!
I have had a week of things being rough and my mind just refuses to work right anymore. I have orders to get out and can't even think straight.
All we need is some new "THANG" from Etsy! That's my word for it now a new "Thang!"
Chocolate cures many things.
@JMOldeVintage @timelapse It really does! Just came back from getting an ice cream. Irish Chocolate Mint Chip. Swirls of fudge and chocolate. I'm in hog heaven, except it wasn't big enough:)
@ChillwolfArt - yummmmmm!
My chocolate splurge last night was wonderful though ChillwolfArt's choice sounds even better!
Now, I'll say that I'm bumping this hoping someone else chimes in. Went into my messages this morning and so far no reply to message I'd sent the shop yesterday. But doing my usual shop check I went into the various message boxes - All, Sent, Spam, Trash, etc.
I went a few extra steps today, opened & read/reviewed my messages. Every single message has the box where I see the User Name and Shop Name, then the sentence "This buyer hasn't messaged you before". Then I see "Private Note +", next is "Labels, No labels added".
The only messages that do not have this notice are old messages that were about/attached to an actual order received in my shop.
I'll concede adding that to recent messages I've spammed that Etsy didn't clear out of the box; messages I (my shop) received from potential buyers ages ago; more personalized messages I received from shops thanking me for my purchase (only have one account here not separate buyer/shop accounts) might just be some automatic thing. (No, it's a "thang", lol)
But to see this on all the messages I've sent (where I'm the potential buyer & may or may not have received a reply) - or - attached to the replies within one thread - I've received to messages I sent (including those that were merely conversational "between shop owner friends" type messages)?
Guess I'm trying to decide if this is something I need to mention to Etsy or if this is something I can truly ignore & omit from a help ticket.
