Is There A Work Around on Shipping Cost Profile

Jump to solution

Has anyone figured out a way to work the new format in regards to setting shipping cost profiles?    I sell old things and they range in weight from 1 ounce up to 30 pounds.    I can't set up that many profiles.    I thought I could set one profile and then edit it for each listing.  Well, apparently that way changes the shipping fee for any of the things you have just listed using that profile.    They don't stay static.   The sales I listed last night and the three tonight are going to have to be deactivated until I figure this out.

Please tell me what others have done.

Thank you!

I think they should have left an option to manually enter it like before.  When I go back and click on the listing, I can't even see what the shipping says.

It looks like they have a generic shipping option again.  I don't know if they just added it or I entirely missed.  YIPPEE!

OP, I sell vintage and use about 25 different fixed shipping profiles, to allow for changes in distance, weight, whether it's free shipping or not. Every six months or so, I adjust the prices upward on fixed shipping profiles to account for USPS and UPS increases.

TinLizzi, how do you name these and still remember what you were referring to when you need to choose one?      Karen

@BirdieGirlAntiques, I label them simply. For example, Very Heavy UPS Fixed Cost, or Free Media Mail, or Free Priority Mail. I use free shipping for many listings so I have one set of free shipping profiles, and another set for fixed cost shipping. It works for me. I write the type of shipping in my description, but occasionally, I upgrade an order to Priority Mail or UPS if circumstances warrant that change.

Why not use calculated shipping?  You create ONE shipping profile (select which services you offer — FCM -GA - PM, etc.), then in each listing, you have the item weight and size, then assign that profile to each listing.  Upon checkout, your buyer is charged correct shipping amount.  Seems the easiest solution.

What do you mean by "generic shipping option"?  Like when Etsy offered "OTHER"?  I don't see that option anywhere.

OK- I am totally confused and PO'd in general.

I cannot list anything - nor can I put it in Draft.

I want ( and NEED) to have the ability to pick a shipping cost for everything in my shop.

Vintage thibgs are all different!

What is going on?

I am in the very same boat.

And it's really been taxing.  I'm beginning to think the only workaround is to nite the actual shipping cost in the Listing Description.

Etsy- you got that? This isn't working. One profile to suit every item listed will not work. So...

How bout this:

Dear Buyer, The COST for this item is $25.

Your Shipping cost is going to be incorporated in the Total you pay:  $30.65

jeez.
