Incorrect shipping estimates

I have been in contact with Etsy support 3 times over this and still the issue has not been fixed. I can't tell you how frustrating this has been.

Any order that is to the USA, I'm in Canada, is giving an incorrect shipping arrival estimate when I create the label. It only happens when I choose tracked packet - air, but the small packet - air will arrive within the estimated shipping time. To make this even more frustrating, the tracked packet is the preferred way to ship the package for everyone involved: Etsy, the customer and myself.

On last night's call I was informed that this date is based on previous shipments. So now that I have consistently met and exceeded my processing window, I'm going to be dinged if I choose the preferred shipping method? This makes no sense. The estimate given needs to be longer. Incorporate the tracked shipping time into the estimate. Stop using the small packet carrier generated time. Or add extra days on to the estimate. Or just remove the estimate entirely because it's not working.

And to answer any other questions, I'm well within my processing time. I allow 1-2 weeks. It's only been 2 days since the order was placed and I'm already sending this latest order out. Getting my item out the door and into the mail is not where the issue is.

The arrival estimate on the listing includes my processing time and the shipping time. The problem lies with the estimated shipping date when I make the shipping label using tracked packet.

To clarify even further:

The estimated shipping time given by Etsy for this order when I create the label is - Buyer expects 21-24 Jul

The time for the TRACKED PACKET is - Estimated delivery 17-29 Jul

When you go to the listing, minus the 2 days since the order was placed, estimated arrival time - 16 Jul-11 Aug

That's a huge time difference between all 3 estimates. Make it make sense.

Re: Incorrect shipping estimates

Call from Etsy?  You gave them your phone number?  If you use any number found on the internet, you are not talking to Etsy.

The arrival dates are from the shipper used.  If this is Canada Post, then they supply the time frame.  The time frame is then based on your processing, if you removed or included weekends/holidays, and what the shipper information that works with all of this.

The delivery date is also based on the earliest time of your processing, not two weeks.  It is actually looking at the earliest day you can ship which would be 7 days, not two weeks.  The very last day would be for 2 weeks.

So yes dates will change depending on when you ship.

Frankly I just have a longer processing time frame but I ship earlier than that.  To argue with, in my case, Etsy and USPS would be fruitless.  I'd rather make the choices myself to remain within the possible arrival date then try to change USPS or Etsy. So I use my experience to make the choices of when to ship so it arrives as stated in listing.  For me that has worked out well even when there are bumps in delivery.

The buyer only knows what is on the listing.  And when you ship when they receive the confirmation email.  They don't see the stuff we see on the label making.

And the time starts for an order the next day unless it is the weekend (and you removed weekends) not two days later.

So nothing is going to be perfect.  I just roll with it.

Re: Incorrect shipping estimates

You can enter your phone number for a call from etsy on the website. I didn't phone them. They returned my call request to support.

I've tried the longer processing time. It was still the same issue. That choosing Tracked package results in a late by etsy's estimates. That's what I'm saying. Why use the shorter time Canada post gives for the small packet? Why doesn't etsy use the slightly longer time Canada post is giving for the preferred tracked package? Seems like a simple fix to change what default it's choosing to use from the carrier.

ArtDollsbyJd, KweenBee is correct.  Yes you can talk to Etsy via phone.  One of the options for customer service is for them to call you.

Re: Incorrect shipping estimates

I am having the same issue! I use a 24 hour service, I make and post my orders 1 to 4 days tops, Etsy is telling on some of my products customers will receive their items in 4 to 10 days! A customer just made me aware of this! I am mad! Talked to customer support and they are so useless with canned replies, it's so frustrating this people can't get the maths right! Etsy is messing up everything,  constantly! Never seen anything like this!
