Hi everyone,
I’ve recently noticed that although I set my cost-per-click (CPC) target around $0.30 for my Etsy ads, I was charged $1.89 for some clicks. This seems unusually high compared to what I planned and expected.
I’ve double-checked my settings and daily budget, and everything appears to be in order. Has anyone else experienced a similar issue or know what could cause such a spike?
I’d truly appreciate any insight or advice from the community.
Thank you so much!
You set your daily budget not cost per click
There have been a few similar posts. There may be more competition for the keywords for the item with the high bid rate. Sales are very slow for many so perhaps more people are vying for ad space.

Can you clarify? A shop's only option is to set a max daily budget (as far as I know). And which of their items they'd like to advertise.
The cost per click depends on how many other sellers you are competing with for ad space on the listing in question. If your item is only one of a handful of good matches for the search terms, it may only cost you a few cents for the click, but if there are a lot of similar items in the ad pool, you compete with those for the prominent spaces. Kind of like an auction, you may get a cheap item if there are only a few people interested in the item, but if there are a lot if people wanting that item, the price will go higher.
You cannot set cost per click -- just a daily budget.
I daily have listings that are $1.80-2 per click. This seems to be new within the last few months and really chews up my budget.
Are you definitely able to set a cpc price as well as the daily budget? Because this option was removed years ago, hoping they'll bring it back, so if you do definitely have the setting to set it you may be in a test that's limited to a few shops.
