Incorrect Processing Times

Jump to solution

[i am a seller] I just had a new order placed 7/25/22. The listing on my end shows a 3-5 day processing, however Etsy warns me (both app and email) that this package must be shipped by 7/28/22 to be considered on time. I have a 3-5 day processing for a reason and am frustrated that this is not accurately reflected, and I will be penalized because of it.

Help center has instructions about how to update the ship by date here https://help.etsy.com/hc/en-us/articles/115015588087-How-to-Set-Processing-Times-and-Ship-By-Dates?s...

scroll down to "How to update the “ship by” date for an order"

Which listing was it that is giving the wrong processing time? If it's something you have multiples of and it's still listed I can take a look and see what it's showing on my end if that will help.

"...and I will be penalized because of it. "

You won't be penalized because of it if you adjust the ship by date now. You can adjust the ship by date on orders but you can only do it once, for a max of 2 weeks I believe and it has to be done before the order is late.

edit to add- I see a couple listings showing 1-3 day processing time. You may want to go through each listing and double check everything or double check your shipping profiles.

Can you walk me how to do this process? Yes- I understand I have two separate profiles, I have already confirmed the listing/order in question is correctly labeled as 3-5 days on my end.

Re: Incorrect Processing Times

Yep, I'm seeing 3-5 days when I look at the listing too.

If I hover over the 'order placed' bit under shipping it says

"After you place your order, GuildedNeedleFabric will take 3-5 business days to prepare it for shipment.".

You may want to contact etsy support to report the issue to them. They changed this to a peer to peer support forum a year or so ago so it's just us sellers here helping each other best we can.

@GuildedNeedleFabric   I clicked on some of your items, and most are showing a 1-3 days processing time. You might want to review your shipping profiles.

Thanks for trying to help, but like I said above- yes I know I have two shipping profiles, one is 1-3 days, and the other is 3-5. I wish I could share a screen shot, as the listing in question is showing 1-3 days, but the profile is clearly set to 3-5.

Re: Incorrect Processing Times

I'm responding because I had something similar happen. I currently have my shipping profiles set to 1-3 days for processing and dispatch. Last night, when checking through my orders, the orders I received on Sunday were scheduled to ship by today (Tuesday). Orders I received last night were scheduled to ship by the 17th. Neither of those are the correct for three business days. This morning, the orders from Sunday now say to ship by Wednesday, and yesterday's orders say to ship by the 18th.

There seems to be a glitch happening with processing times for a small amount of sellers. Yes, we can manually change the ship-by for each order, but we shouldn't have to.

Re: Incorrect Processing Times

this isn't the same problem, the OP thought they has 3-5 days set, and they had 1-3 days set on some of them, and 3-5 days set on others

@FaireTreasuresTX   We also noticed that (particularly on weekend orders) late in the day orders get all confused with time zone issues and the scheduled ship date is often calculated incorrectly.

Interesting, because some of the ones I was looking at last night that were incorrect were from earlier in the day. Another order that came in while I was checking over these says that the order was placed on August 15 as well as August 16. It's incredibly strange. I can understand that last one being a time zone issue, but the others don't make sense.

Weekend orders start on Monday.  When an order comes in Friday, the processing time frame is set for Monday.  Same with Saturday and Sunday.

@FaireTreasuresTX  You have one to 3 day shipping.  An order received today would ship on the 17th as that is the first day of processing.  Your last day to ship is the 19th (3rd day)

The sunday orders should start processing on Monday and were t be shipped Monday Aug 15 through Aug. 17.

You have a 1-3 day.  Did you select a different processing time frame?  Did you check your profile?  Do you have more than one profile?  Did you change your profile?

If you meant 1 to 3 days the dates are as they should be.

Sat and Sunday are not included in the processing.  Etsy skips over the weekend for processint time frame, always start on Monday for weekend orders.  Orders made during the week such as Thursday will have a ship date of Friday (1 day) and then skip over the weekend to have Monday (2nd) day and Tuesday (3rd day).

@ArtDollsbyJD Exactly. These orders have 1-3 day processing shipping profiles that I set up years ago when shipping profiles were first available. Nothing has changed on my end. This seems to be a glitch.

Re: Incorrect Processing Times

I also have this problem. Two orders this week are showing as dispatch by tomorrow when it should be Monday. One was a 2-3 day listing and the other a 3-5 day, both should have taken me to Monday which was the time I needed. Yes I can update the shipping time and message the customer, but it doesn't look good to do that. Can you please fix this Etsy??

@FizzCatCreations   :   This is a seller peer to peer forum, not a way to contact Etsy, if that is your hope (although Etsy does sometimes post here).  There have been reports in this forum with glitches in calculating the scheduled ship date range. We also noticed that (particularly on weekend orders) late in the day orders get all confused with time zone issues and the scheduled ship date is often calculated incorrectly. And they do not factor in postal holidays. We would update the ship by date and in the note to buyer section state that you are correcting Etsy's miscalculation.
