The images for my listings on the pages with my list of products are blurry (the images on each individual product page are fine once you click on the specific listing), but the same images for those listings are crystal clear in my Etsy shop page. Etsy didn't give a very helpful answer, as they said there would be some differences in the images since they are two different sites. But, it doesn't look very professional or reputable to have blurry images on my website.
Is anyone else having this issue? Were you able to resolve it?
I would have to agree with you...does not make sense that the pics would be different.
I am surprised at Etsy's response.
What is the purpose of doing a pattern shop if the images are going to be blurry.
Exactly...Weird! Maybe they do that to keep sellers on Etsy's main site, even though they make the same commission regardless.
Did you ever try Pattern for yourself? If so, did you also have the issue with the search bar not showing up in the top right of the page? The magnifying glass appears there in "Editor Mode", but the actual website doesn't have it.
Etsy said they're looking into it, but have no estimated time that it will take...Which I suspect means that they put it on the backburner and aren't really going to look into it unless more Pattern users complain about it. It has been a few months and I haven't heard anything back...So, I don't expect a resolution.
Usually, Etsy customer service is great, but when it's a complicated issue I've noticed they just stick to their prewritten responses and if that doesn't work they just give up or say they will be looking into it...but sadly never do.
Another problem I have is the seller protection for things like when a package gets lost in transit for example. They say they will cover the cost of refunds but they have so many exceptions and loopholes that they probably never do.
I think Etsy has pretty much abandoned Pattern. Quite honestly I would not pay for that shop anymore. Either go strictly with Etsy or get a standalone hosted elsewhere.
Thanks for the input. I just like having "my own website"...If I go with Shopify or something else, I would have to create the shipping labels, sign up with a payment processor, and handle customer service. I wouldn't mind doing all of that myself, but the BIG TURNOFF that keeps me from doing it, is that I would have to calculate, collect, and remit the Sales Tx from each sale myself.
I used to have my own Shopify store, and I liked that I had so many options for personalizing it, but I ultimately quit doing it because of the Sales Tax...too much of a headache.
Having Paypal as a payment processor also cost about $30 a month...plus Shopify fees and fees for any other apps I needed.
In the end, Pattern is just cheaper and less work for me, and I still get to have what seems to be "my own website".

I looked at both your regular Etsy pic of Illusion II to your pattern pic and they look the same to me. The only real difference I see (viewing on FireFox) is that with both zoomed at "actual size" in FF settings that Pattern is fit into a smaller pic than regular Etsy but the size ratio is the same.
Also, are you uploading your pics at the recommended size of 2000 x 2000? I upload at 2000x2000 but if I view full screen one of my 2000x2000 images and copy and paste it back into my photo editor it is only 1140x1140 so if Etsy is (and I'm sure they are) reducing the size of a 2000 to 1140 then reducing it again to make a thumbnail in regular Etsy and thumbnail in Pattern Etsy then it's very likely that the multiple resizing of the image can cause a blurred pic. However, as I said, they look fine to me on my screen when I compare them side by side in the listing pic and in the full size pic.
I agree they probably resize. Yes I upload always above 2k x 2k. That’s great is if looks fine on your computer…hopefully it’s just on mine. I’ve checked it out on explorer, Firefox, and chrome and it’s all the same issue. Again, like you said, they probably resize again for pattern. The images on the product page are fine…only the images on the page that shows all my listings are blurry. Thank you for looking into it!
I looked at your website and the photos seem fine? I'm using Edge.
I didn't see the search bar, and I find that weird.

You might get some different answers. You may want to include the theme you are using. Sometimes that matters.
Thank you for the link!
