Hi and thank you anyone who might know what I did or if there is anything to be done. I am brand new to selling on Esty, like made my first 14 listings 78 hours ago. The other night I decided I was going to make some Etsy listings for my 1980's vintage postcards I have. I checked with Esty's guidelines on adult content to make sure my postcards did not violate any community guidelines as these cards are a little bit provocative. As I read the rule images of female breasts are allowed as long as they are in a non-sexual situation. Most of my postcards are fully clothed or in bikinis but I do have to admit that I had a postcard of a nude woman ( no genitalia showing) with giant butterfly wings. All of my postcards are from the early 1980's and I would not call any of them sexual, possibly provocative. The majority of the cards I listed we're astrology/zodiac postcards that had an accompanying bikini model (Fully covered) in the image. I woke up and saw that my account had been disable. I waited all day and finally 9 hours later I received an e-mail that my account had been permanently banned for a violation. It did not say what I had specifically violated but I digress. Assuming that this was just a BOT ban I went ahead and sent an appeal. Remember before this I have never listed on Etsy in my life. I have been on other platforms for long enough that I am making my living selling vintage items. I politely said in my appeal that as I read their guidelines I did not believe I had broken any rules and that if I had could they pleased be explained to me so I would not make them again. I understand that sometimes rules are held on technicalities and possibly a picture of a woman in a bikini holding a scale or a crab with a zodiac symbol next to it might offend a very morally upright person. I simply placed the appeal assuming I was going to receive a slap on the wrist. Remember I had never listed any item on Etsy prior to 78 hours ago and I was charged $2.80 for my listings. So just now I opened my email and I received a message that after careful consideration my account ban being permanently banned is being upheld. Is there anything I can do? Like I said by how I read their guidelines everything I listed is absolutely allowable. I also have other postcards I was going to list that are 100% G rated I just had not gotten there yet (They do not sell as well). Is Etsy in the habit of not even giving 1 chance when it comes to censorship? I truly did not think anything I listed was more than art. 95% of the cards I listed would receive a PG-13 rating at highest. 1 of the cards was a tasteful art nude. I did put this in the title so that anyone who would be offended would not look. I guess I am asking if anyone else has heard of this harsh a punishment for this type of infraction. I have a lot of vintage postcards and hate to think I lost a platform for life for an unrealized violation.
I read your message as 1890s, and thought my goodness, those postcards shouldn't be offensive today. Then I saw that it said 1980s...well, that's a different story. It has to be that they're too blatant for Etsy, unlike the nude painting I ran across the other day with a guy's junk showing in all its glory. Who knows why some things are allowed, and then they clamp down on others. It could be something else. Just try to get through to someone at Etsy who will know what they're doing. Someone will come along on here and help you more than I can. Good luck.
I'm sorry and like CastawayCottageFinds, do not understand why this would be banned from what you are describing. I saw far worse a couple months ago in a thumbnail; a graphic photo, depicting the male Seller's below regions. Some Review photos the same. (and I'm not easily shocked).
I think it should be clear with no surprises, what you are being banned for. I don't even know if you should continue to attempt to get Etsy to change their mind or try to sell elsewhere. I really wish I could think of something else for you. My only thought (ignore it if I'm wrong); was there another issue perhaps which didn't pertain to se-uality of the items you were trying to sell? Maybe reselling without being a Vintage Shop. Just guessing at this point.
