I uploaded my driver's license more than 24 hours ago and also updated my name to show my full legal first name. I received an email that I needed my name to match my photo ID, but it shows my name is pending verification. I honestly don't know what they want me to do at this point and my store remains on vacation mode. Additionally, why is there no way to talk to an Etsy associate?

If you change your name, you have to give evidence of the change, not just evidence of the new name

you will probably have to wait a week or two until a human gets back to you

I just changed my name from Kathy, which is how it was set up when I opened my shop, to Kathleen, which is the legal name on my driver’s license. I’m not sure what else they would need to confirm the change.

Wait until you get to 50 days waiting for an ID Verification. Etsy will be shutting off my shop without giving a real email after this long. In addition, they will be keeping 346.54 $ owing to me for sales from September. That is theft, on top of derelection of duty, failure to provide rightful service, negligence and nonperformance. As etsy knew about the new regulations sellers would have to meet, why are there not more actual humans to resolve issues on conformance? Responders like Crafty Cornish Maid have all the answers, and Mod Angie patrols the comments to keep sellers from complaining, but etsy humans can't respond once??  Keeping Commerce Human is a bit of a joke, don't you think? Again, keeping monies owed in my situation is just theft.

This is not an etsy support forum,

It is a seller only forum.

We can give information on what we have seen other sellers say works, or has worked for us.

the mods (who are not etsy, they are outsourced forum moderators working on behalf of etsy) can log a call for the OP, then there is no point continuing the post.

It works better if you log the call in your own words, and keep chasing it (having had my shop shut by etsy, due to their misunderstanding, for 2 weeks, then the stitch awry, I have personally gone through this process)

Etsy cannot legally transfer money to an unverified account.

Sellers should know about the new regulations , that affect their business, in their own countries, for you, the bill has been around for a while, it  received royal ascent in June 2023.

In your previous posts, you say you are refusing, you know what you have to do, you just won't, that is not down to etsy, it is down to you.
that's your choice, and your consequences.

The Canadian government have changed the law, sellers have to provide their SIN to platforms now

This is from Canada Government website, the CRA (Canadian Revenue Agency)

they say you have to provide your SIN to platforms, and if you don't provide it, you can't sell here, AND they will fine you up to $500

What is your responsibility as a reportable seller?

As a reportable seller, you may be asked for additional information about you or your business so that your platform operator(s) can fulfill their reporting obligations to the CRA.

If you do not provide your tax identification number to your platform operator(s), the CRA may assess you a penalty of $500 for each failure to provide it.

currently etsy can't give you the $349, because you won't provide them with the information your tax identification number (SIN) , that your government says you have to
and you could get fined up to $500 from your government, for not doing so.

somehow this is etsy's fault? I don't think so.

50 days? That is insane. I also have  funds that I’m waiting on. This is no way to treat your sellers! How is it legal to own a company with no customer support?

@BirdieGirlsTreasures What do you mean when you say you updated your name? Are you talking about the name you set your account on Etsy up with? Basically, you need the name to be the same on your license, your bank, etc. Unless you are an LLC or INC and then everything has to match the way the business license was set up.

I am set up as an LLC and that says Kathleen as well. How long does verification take?
