I do not know if this is still in the testing phase, but I see that the item details now appear below the reviews.
I think that this new product page layout is really bad. A lot of people do not read the item description or details already. We include important information in this area and this is going to make it worse to communicate with the customer.
Is this on the app? I'm using my laptop and just looked at one of your listings and the reviews are below the photo and the description is next to them on the right of the page where it usually is.
I guess they are just testing. But the way I see it now, just bad
We are viewing in on a laptop, Must be ETSY testing
There are many many threads about this. The overwhelming opinion is that it is just plain dumb.
and a deterent to many potential sales....
I don't think I have seen anyone say they like it.
Dumbest move Etsy has ever made. As a buyer I want to know 1) Title 2) price 3) description.
Etsy - put it back on top!
RUBBISH ! Many customers don't read it but put it where it's more difficult to see and we have no chance
This is one of Etsy's dumber ideas. It's hard enough to get buyers to read the descriptions without hiding them. Please drop this concept and go back to the old way.
It’s stupid and makes no sense
The description needs to be at the top! I might have to include a photo that states my product information. I sell bath and body products and have received several messages lately asking to please describe the scent of my products. It is all there in my description. I’m always happy to help customers, but this is getting aggravating!
I'm not a fan of this move at all. Seems very "suspicious" to me...and counter intuitive. Bad move!
If search seo pulls from description as well as title and tags, how does this move affect that?
Is this a gimmick to push sellers into buying onsite ads for visibility?
I totally agree! I was very confused not seeing the item or description details. I can't imagine that buyers will know to look below the reviews for more information. Hopefully this is just a bug & will be resolved soon
This also explains why a customer was asking me about dimensions when I already have them listed. When I explained they're in the item details they still couldn't find them... no wonder!!!
This happens to me now all the time. One customer even asked me why I don’t have sizes listed like other sellers do.
Very annoying for sure.
I had changed my Announcement in my Shop to explain where the Item Details had been moved to. I also changed the Item Title to include instructions where to find Details. I noticed a couple of days ago they had changed me back to the old layout which is so much better.
Luckily I only have a few Items in my Shop so it didn't take long to change everything back again, this isn't possible for larger Shops to do!
Hopefully this experiment is coming to an end!
@KnitSewandStitches Tests are user based. Etsy didn't change your shop layout. It just means that your account is not in the test at the moment. I've been in and out of this ridiculous new test and currently I see your descriptions below the reviews.
I wouldn’t put it in the announcement since not all customers see it that way. It’s still in the testing phase.
Totally ridiculous in my opinion.
This illustrates how important our photographs are. I am going to try and think about what information is good to include in photographs from now. I usually add photos showing lots of different angles and me holding the object but that may not be enough in the future.
