We had our shop put on vacation mode like everyone else. We are getting an error when uploading id. Someone reached out and asked if still having issue. I said yes. They then asked to talk on the phone. The red flags are…avatar is basic silouhette of a face not a real person. 2. The email comes across from Etsy like this…Etsy Conversation with Sam from i1113m14a33dad9b also had no signature
any help or advice. I know not to give bank, social or business id.

In this situation I always go to whatever the business is and never the email or text. Most of the time if you are suspicious of it being a scam, it is.
Legitimate messages from Etsy will appear in your Etsy message inbox in the "from Etsy" sub-folder with the words "from Etsy" highlighted in orange
Someone reached out and asked if still having issue.
how did they reach out?
If the message comes through etsy messages, if it is not in the "from etsy" folder, AS WELL as the inbox, it's not from Etsy.
If it's just an e-mail, not a etsy message, it will come from etsy trust and safety, or their zendesk
HOWEVER if those ask you to do anything, there will be a red banner on etsy which also says you need to do something
.... I wonder if scammers have found that quite a few shops are failing authorisation, and are targetting them
I would contact etsy, through help - contact us, and ask if it's them
