Hello, I am not a fraudster. I did everything as if it was correct, but I caught the ban of the account. I sent an appeal and got an automatic notification that your account will remain in the ban in the future, in the appeal window it is written to wait for a response in 2 weeks.
I just opened a store, I made the first sale, after that I got a ban in 2 days, the sale is there, the buyer is waiting for the product, and I am not sure whether I should send it, because I do not understand whether I will be unblocked and whether I will get paid even if they do not unblock me for the sent goods ....((( help. what should I do?
I would suggest canceling the order and reaching out to Etsy support for more help. They can assist with letting you know exactly what is going on with your account and how you can fix it. Good luck!
I think you should cancel the order.
You were selling new cameras listed as handmade.
You should cancel the sale and refund your buyer.
I cannot cancel the order while the account is banned
Sigh….
you were calling the canon powershot A3100is camera:
vintage and handmade.
and it was neither.
unless you did make it.
then it would be counterfeit.
but it could not be vintage.
it came out in 2010.
so you should refund the money to the customer.
"I am not a fraudster" well did you make the canon camera by hand? If not is it vintage? That means it is 25 years old or older. NO! Well is it a supply? No ! Well you were shut down because you violated Etsy's TOU (terms of USE) To sell things here on Etsy it has to be made by YOUR own self. Vintage , or a supply clearly a Cannon camera is none of the above. So Etsy was justified to close your shop down Go Etsy Hooray. You will not get reopened unless you conform to Etsy's gameplan.
but how do other sellers sell cameras? i couldn't change it in the settings but i tried my best
I think Etsy will refund for you. Not sure how a camera is less of a shop supply than a sewing machine, but no they should not be listed as handmade. I blame Etsy for this. Try and list something made by someone else> supply or tool and they list the craft supply categories THEN OTHER OPTIONS. There are no other options! No wonder the handmade category is a joke. Etsy guides sellers right into it!
I am getting the impression that somehow it isn't clear to new sellers that Etsy is only for vintage, handmade, and supply. I'm not sure what people think when they select handmade, but it does seem many are NOT thinking "let me lie and defraud people." Of course some may be thinking that but it seems more so that Etsy needs their TOU to be much clearer during the listing process. Yes, people should read the TOU but the reality is that they don't.
I've said before that I think Etsy needs a pop up warning when people select handmade that says " by proceeding you agree that yada yada... "
ETA and totally agree that "handmade" seems to be the catch-all category because it doesn't have the follow up questions that supplies and vintage have during listing.
Other sellers have not got caught yet. And yes you are a fraudster.
other sellers have rank "seller with medal"
)))))))))))))))))))))
sorry im not a fraudster
sorry!
I recommend reading Etsy's policies prior to appealing. That way you can apologize for making an error ... like listing something under handmade that wasn't or selling something as vintage that is less than 25 years old.
As an Etsy seller, I'm glad to see them enforcing their TOUs. As a nice person, I like to see people given opportunities to learn from mistakes. I have no idea what Etsy will do in your case. Etsy has been dealing with a lot of criticism for not enforcing their TOUs and seems to be trying to do better.
Like it or not, it IS fraud because you stated the camera was handmade, when it was not. It is highly unlikely etsy will let you sell here again and that etsy will refund the money and cancel the sale for you.
You can list your items on other sites like ebay.
Vintage on the site is 20 years or older -- but it's possible that something else may have triggered the bots. You may have to wait and see if they reply in 2 weeks.
Etsy is a specialist selling site, you can't just sell anything here
You can only sell things on Etsy that are
Handmade or designed by you
or Vintage (over 20 years old)
or craft supplies,
nothing else can be sold here,
You were caught, others just haven't been caught yet
a haiku:
A photographer
is an artist, a crafter.
She has but one tool.
I believe that cameras can be sold on Etsy, as a craft supply/tool. I could find no prohibition against cameras in the rules. Proper use of the commercial brand name might be a different issue.
@nineteen27 is right, as always. The OP should not have listed the Canon as handmade or vintage. If Etsy would improve their listing option prompts, perhaps the problem could have been avoided. Cheers, Dave J.
It is a strange one my first thought is could a camera be a supply used to make something it is used to make something photography is a craft. Then I thought no because it can be used as it is unaltered. But wait the photo is the finished item not the camera so possibly its ok. You can argue you can use a bead as is but the necklace you make with it is the finished item. So what about other equipment say a knitting machine or a saw they can be used as is but are tools to make a finished item. I guess only etsy can answer the question is a Camera a supply. what we do know is its not handmade or vintage (unless over 20 years old)
This is true. I remember when the question came up regarding cookbooks as a supply -- and they eventually got the green light.
Yes I do think cook books are a supply as they are instructions to make things and I believe books on making things wher always allowed. Knitting needles are a supply so would a knitting machine be a supply.
That's a good question @SmallthingsbyAmanda -- it's too bad that we no longer get the same interactions as we did on the old forums -- when a question could be asked of an Admin, and they would find out for us, if the info. wasn't in the handbook or not clear.
you are the best people!
thanks all *LOVE*
I've always thought of cameras as tools and that falls into the supply category. No different than a paint brush or set of wood carving knives... unless you plan to wear it around your neck as adornment - lol! Hard to be upset about someone selling a 'tool' like a camera when there are so many people re-selling out of the box or drop shipped 'kits' for just about every other type of craft here... but yeah, I'm not sure how one would go about listing it even as a 'tool' if you are not allowed to use or display the manufacturers name.
One other thing that came to mind and much like sewing machines for example, some camera manufacturers may not let just anyone sell their products as 'new' and you may need to be an approved distributor otherwise things like warranties for the end user can be an issue.
There's a bit more to this than just can or can't list it I think.
kits have always been a supply on etsy and don't have to be handmade items. yes etsy say supply's are not items that can be used as they are so T-shirts mugs that Meany sellers do use as supply's are not allowed. Seams easy until you start over thinking it then it becomes a minefield with what use as is means and what to make something means. sellers will never agree just like they never agree what is or is not handmade. I Have always asked etsy when I want to check although even that can get different answers from different etsy staff.
