Hello,
I sent out a package on December 2. It ended up being slightly delayed (Etsy shows it as in transit). The buyer messaged me and I told her about the delay and she was perfectly fine with it and super understanding as it's the holidays. However, I was looking at the status of her package and it says "Alert: Intercepted" by the sender. I AM the sender and did not request anything. In fact this was a perfectly normal order except for the slight delay and changing to a USPS verified address that was also verified with the buyer through messages. What did I do, and what should I do? I also have extra fees this month and was sent a "DUE BY DATE email ($19.08) when auto-billing is turned on - and I have never received an email like this before. What's more the intercept fees are $17 plus any additional shipping, and this is a very close number to the fees I was sent.
I checked with my partner and I am seriously wondering if my account has been hacked.
I also responded to a customer's message and clicked a google photos link before realizing the person no longer exists on Etsy and the link doesn't work either. Was this an unleashed virus or a bot? I got another one recently and don't want to do anything before I am sure.
So worried. Please help guys. (I also posted in the Shipping forum). Here is the screenshot I have: https://ibb.co/487Qt41
"They were messaging me for products as gifts for their family and were "showing me" the products they wanted which I found weird as they couldn't just send me the links of what they wanted."
This is a known scam. These appear to be images, but often the files end with .exe, which is execution command and it automatically runs a program on your computer to install a virus. It sounds like this is almost certainly what happened, though I have no idea if it's related to the intercepted notice or just a coincidence. You need to run a virus scan on your computer immediately.
Will run a virus scan. I have changed my PW and will figure the package thing out in a bit, I will avoid from now on. Thank you
Change your pw's. Never click on links like that in messages.
Done. just changed it. know now and will delete these types of messages. I just need to solve the missing package and have reached out to USPS
do you mean all my passwords? i have done a virus scan and nothing appeared!
