Does anyone have a workaround for the inability to rearrange photos in shop manager on iPad through Safari? (That was a mouthful!). Every time I need to move a photo vertically, the photos either disappear altogether or they’re all outlined in thick orange lines and everything - the whole page - moves/scrolls up and down, but the photos remain stationary. I’ve been using the (old) app to circumvent this, but when that’s phased out it’s going to be a problem. Etsy is aware of this - it’s been an ongoing problem for the last two years - but hasn’t addressed nor permanently fixed the issue, at least not that I remember seeing. There have been some forum posts about this in the past, but I don’t think a solution was ever forthcoming. Hopefully someone smarter than I am has figured out a way around this.
For about 2 years now, Safari is unsupported with etsy. Have you tried another broswer?

@VintageRescueSquad @Boy I must be out of the loop! That 2 years coincides perfectly with the onset of issue. It DID work for about 6 months during those two years, but then stopped again. I’ve been using Safari with no issues other than photos, and so didn’t realize it was no longer supported. I guess I’ll try Google. Thanks!
@VintageRescueSquad @Just tried Google AND Google chrome. Issue still exists. I can’t rearrange photos. What a PITA!
Did you try rebooting after switching browsers?
Nope…I’ll give it a shot. I have a sinking feeling I’m going to have to spend some money on a new updated device, though this one is only 4-years old. I guess that’s practically a dinosaur in tech years. Thanks, @Former_Member. I’ll let you know if it works. Fingers crossed.
Are you using a touch screen on a tablet or phone? Maybe you just need to clean the screen. My old computer touchscreen was really sensitive when I tried to use a stylus on it. If there was any dust on the screen it would mess up.
Disclaimer: This is not a TVP
@SmudgePlant @lol…as a matter of fact, I cleaned it thoroughly just yesterday after my dog sneezed on the screen…gross, I know. But to answer your question, yes it’s a touch screen (I don’t have a keyboard…could that be the problem?). This has been happening for a long time now and I’ve used the app to get around it. However….now that we have to say good-bye to the existing app, I’m in a bit of a panic. It’s not a good look on me. Lol.
@DivineCrossings I was wondering if it had to do with the touchscreen's sensitivity. It sounds like it might not pinpointing enough on what you are selecting. That's why I thought maybe dust or debris was getting in the way.
Maybe a bluetooth keyboard and mouse might help.
Or is there any way your tablet cover or case is putting pressure on your screen?
@SmudgePlant “Or is there any way your tablet cover or case is putting pressure on your screen?”
Um…maybe? It might be worth a trip to the Apple Store or the Geek Squad to get their take on things. I’ll see what they think about using a keyboard vs. touch screen. But it’s odd that the touch screen works just fine for everything else on and off of Etsy. Who knows? Or maybe I’ll just break down and buy a laptop or MacBook. I’m going to try @Former_Member‘s suggestion tonight and shut down the iPad after downloading Google chrome. I’ll reboot in the am and see if that makes a difference. Wish me luck!
Good luck.
Maybe try playing solitaire on it to test it.
@DivineCrossings Are you trying to change the primary photo in your item listing or re arranging the shop page listings
I have had the same issue for ages on my tablet when trying to change the primary photo in the item listing, one thing that helped a bit was to click the desktop site box, it is still not perfect but helped. When that gets frustrating the only other option is my PC.
@OwlAlwaysKnit @That’s exactly what I’ve been trying to do. I’ve been shooting new thumbnails but can’t get them into position via the browser…only through the app. The only ways to do it on the website browser are either take ALL new photos or download the existing photos and then upload all over again. Unfortunately my desktop kicked the bucket two years ago - about the same time I started having this problem. Figures.
I’m wondering if the new app would allow me to change the primary photo the same way the “old” app does. I haven’t tried it yet, but I’m off to do that now.
I have noticed a major technical issue , when searching for products on android devices .
I have contacted all top rated sellers , has the majority of our listings , including advertised ones have disappeared, from various android phone searches .
can anybody help speak to someone with technical advice , a manager on etsy or someone on the forum that works for etsy .
etsy customer service as become very bad and technical support only check views and move on .
@DivineCrossings its so frustrating isn't it, I have reported it before but they didn't see it their end probably because they were not using a tablet, as I mentioned I was trying to move photos yesterday and switched to desktop view/site and did manage to get a few moved before it just went orange and froze, then had to wait 5 minutes or so until stopped. I feel your pain
Edit to add I do not use the app
@OwlAlwaysKnit @Yes! Definitely frustrating! I’ve just tried the new app and it seems I can do it there, but, the blasted thing is so clunky and counterintuitive…a total fail. Once they phase out the old one I’ll only use the new app for the purpose of rearranging photos, especially since it’s only available in portrait mode. GAH!
I use my iPad (browser, not app) for everything, except rearranging photos, since I’ve always had that issue with being unable to drag the pictures - it’s so annoying!!!
But thanks to this thread, I just tried it in the new app, and it does actually work! Like @DivineCrossings , that’s probably the only thing I’ll use the new app for. Clunky is right, not only the forced portrait mode, it doesn’t even auto-rotate when you hold you iPad with the home button at the top (necessary while lying on my couch, with the charging cable attached…)
@DOKOcreations @Right? I can just hear the excuse and the convoluted logic now: “Etsy research shows that 99.9% of users prefer portrait mode”. They really don’t think things through.
