My account has been placed on a temporary hold on funds, and I’ve been trying to contact Etsy support for over a month now. Unfortunately, I keep receiving the same copy-paste response without any proper resolution. I’m extremely frustrated and need a clear explanation. Has anyone else experienced this issue? If yes, how did you get it resolved?
You need to reply to the generic response saying you still need help. If you don't reply then it gets closed.
Did Etsy say why you have a temporary hold on your funds?
Here is the article about Reserves which might help:
What is a Payment Account Reserve? – Etsy
It says you started your shop in 2025, what date did you get your first sale?
I received my first sale on February 15, 2025.
From this date, Etsy can hold your funds from 0-180 days for new shops.
It is normally 90 days, there will be a hold, which means the funds from each sale are paid 7 or 14 days after the date of sale minus any fees.
Fees from additional sales, before the pay out is due are instantly deducted from the next available pay out
If you check you financial section in your dashboard, click on payment account and scroll down to recent activities, it should show a date under each sale when the funds are due for release.
If there is a full hold on your account, make sure you check everything from your ID being verified, Account being verified, your customer services stats etc..
Have you had any cases opened against you or removals? I see that you have trademarked items in your shop, this would be a huge reason for funds to be withheld and will lead to shop closure and full ban
Additionally, your shop is showing 59 sales but no reviews, this could also set off alarm bells
@CryzalisMasksUK In one of my early shops, I had 56 orders before I got my first review.
Etsy does not hold funds for 180 days for new sellers. Why Hasn’t My Money Been Deposited Yet? – Etsy Help Funds are held for 14 to 20 days after a sale.
@VectorsBySarmad Did you verify your bank account? Receive the deposit? Did Etsy ask you for a bank statement?
Take one email and reply back that you still need help? Don't keep opening emails. Just use one. That's the way it works on here.
Did you check your Payoneer account? Was it linked correctly?
All my verifications are complete — there is nothing left that requires verification. There haven't been any open cases or disputes on my account either. As for reviews, it's quite common for digital product stores to receive fewer reviews compared to total sales. I’ve seen a store with over 100K sales and only 7K reviews — if you look at the ratio, my store is on a similar track.
Support keeps replying with:
"I see that your next deposit date is [08/10/2025]."
But this doesn't address the actual issue.
It seems like Trademarked items are very often the cause of funds being withheld.
Based on Etsy giving you a date for your next deposit, it looks like they are holding funds. Probably because your shop is new. Etsy uses holding funds as a risk mitigation while new shops prove themselves.
I never had resolution from customer service. I had to just wait it out. I’m sorry this is happening to you!
Thank you so much for your help, @mommawhazelsquilts I have removed all potentially trademarked listings from my shop. I really appreciate your guidance.
Now, should I contact Etsy support again, or just wait and the temporary hold will be lifted automatically? Please advise.
@VectorsBySarmad Take one email and reply back you still need help. If you changed your Payoneer account at any point that causes one issue.
The date 8/10/25 is possibly when Etsy will close your shop if you don't get this resolved.
Etsy support is basically non existent, so good luck! No replies to multiple emails, the ‘24/7’ chat is downright laughable!! It just repeats itself ‘click to chat’ no matter what I type. Get some actual staff Etsy!
You're absolutely right! The 24/7 support chat used to be helpful before, but now even that has stopped giving proper responses. And the so-called "relevant team" that replies via email—it's like they don’t even check your account before sending a generic reply. Now the support chat just keeps repeating “click to chat” no matter what you type. Etsy seriously needs to hire actual staff!
I disagree @ClaybytheseaCapeCod I recently had to contact Etsy and they responded promptly.
On Etsy we don't send multiple emails. When you get on reply back, you use that to say you still need help. Opening multiple gets them closed.
I've never had chat. Never needed it. Email works just fine.
@VectorsBySarmad They stop responding because they expect sellers to read the information provided and then reply back that they still need help. That's the way it works on Etsy. Many sellers ask questions that can be answered with Help articles so actually sellers bog down support with questions that can be answered through the forums, Our House Rules, or Help.
Not my experience at all. Terrible response time, and I’m communicating in exactly that fashion.
