France La Poste tracking numbers not being recognized by Etsy

Since this summer, the tracking stickers from La Poste (France) have changed their format, from a 1D bar code and looking like "3Y00437551xxx" to a 2D bar code format, formatted as "88500004138573Q" for example.

The thing is, when you scan the new 2D format with a reader, it gives this kind of data:

%000000088500004138573600250A18^

When the actual tracking number, written above the code, is 88500004138573Q

So you either have to manually enter the code (tedious) or scan it, and trim the beginning of the character chain, "%0000000" and the end part "600250A18^" which are constants, and add the last alphanumeric character in place of it.

The problem comes when Etsy doesn't recognize 000000088500004138573600250A18 as a valid tracking number, when La Poste's official tracking website does!! Entering either the full chain without % and ^ or entering the written tracking number text both work, but the latter doesn't on Etsy.

The consequence being 26 orders that have sunk my shipping score early July, and I couldn't replace the numbers since that last character would be missing.

And now, Etsy has removed my Star Seller badge because 94.45% was insufficient in October (because, again, of orders made in early July that HAD working tracking data)

They have admitted to a technical issue but didn't fix it, and didn't put my Star Seller status back. Absolutely disgusting given the amount of fee they steal every month.

We have just experienced this same issue for over month - just wondering if you got any further with your issue, which seems to be the same?

TIA

@LeahiGifts this is a zombie thread about a different topic than you are asking about.

But to answer your question, here is what Etsy says. You need to find the customs number.

https://help.etsy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360037382894-Global-Postal-Shipping-Labels-on-Etsy?segment=s...

Customs IDs and tracking

Etsy provides customs IDs for Global Postal Shipping Label shipments. These ID numbers can be used to track the package. Customs IDs are created when the package is prepared to leave the United States.

Buyers can enter a customs ID on the website of the shipping carrier, or on sites like AfterShip, to track their package.

To find your customs ID:

  1. Sign in to Etsy.com
  2. Choose Shop Manager.
  3. Choose Orders & Shipping
  4. Select the Order Number to show the order details.
  5. About halfway down the order details page, there will be a section with shipment information.
  6. Select it to see More details.
  7. The Customs ID number will be at the bottom.
