Why is Ground Advantage not listed as an option to pick when I create a less than 1 lb shipping profile? It still only listed First class. It doesn't really exist any more!
Please don't rush the Etsy coders! Ground Advantage has only been around since July 9th!
@DontUWantMe: From a seller's / shipper's standpoint a package of 15.99 ounces or less is still a First Class Package just rebranded as Ground Advantage. A package of 16 ounces or more is essentially Parcel Post rebranded as Ground Advantage (with the longer estimated in transit time). We are happy that Etsy has not yet "fixed" this as we prefer 16 ounce and heavier packages to get priced as Priority Mail instead of Ground Advantage.
If you set up a shipping profile, you can always offer priority mail no matter how much it weighs.
@DontUWantMe: We use shipping profiles exclusively and yes we know that as a shipping upgrade. But with Ground Advantage properly set up, a 16 ounce package would default to Ground Advantage not Priority Mail (and depending on the zone it is going to can that mean 10 or more additional days in transit).
@NanaLetha LOL ... I now have to clean coffee off my computer screen!
@DontUWantMe If you select the regular USPS label on Etsy, when it's printed out, it says ground advantage.
I was wondering this myself the other day then I realized I hadn't changed it yet on my website...
You need to enable First Class as a shipping option (for items under a pound) AND Parcel (for items over a pound) to get GA to work correctly. If you only enable First Class and it is over a pound, it will pick Priority.
I ship hundreds of orders from my other business and they are almost all 12-70 ounces. If it is under 5lbs (80 ounces) USPS Ground Advantage is almost always the cheapest option. Plus it arrives at almost the same speed as priority (maybe 1 day later). It is a great offering and has saved me thousands of dollars in shipping. So why is ETSY not offering this as an option?
They offer it as an option when buying a label, they just don't offer it as an option when setting up shipping profiles. As to why, that's a huge mystery. All the other marketplaces had it figured out within a few days.
@LovejoyLightwork: Unless something has changed recently, you need to enable 'Parcel Post' in your profile as that is what 16 ounce or more Ground Advantage is.
I do not have a first class option when making a shipping profile, only ground advantage and the rest of the options. My orders never show Ground Advantage was chosen. It always says that the buyer chose first class, when I do not have that option to offer.
I believe calculated shipping has not changed over yet, but if you set your own price you can choose ground advantage. It is ridiculous that Etsy still needs to change this.
